yeah it's halls, and its an open day, but I live with 2 other guys in the old post grad flat which is off from the main corridor on the top floor, so there's usually no one around.
My mates landlord has been known to show people around their house with only a days notice, and in a house of 5, its pretty understandable that someone might not find out.

I can add one to that.
My friend Dave is not the brightest of people. He can think on his feet though and could come up with an explanation for anything.
He's a student and lives in a fairly big student household, with maybe 4-6 people living there also. They have a downstairs shower/toilet/bath in the bathroom by the back door. His room is right next to said bathroom.
I don't know how but they managed to break the sliding door. It's a strange bathroom, the toilet is behind one side of this partition and the bath is behind another side so if you're looking directly at it you can only see the sink in the middle and would have to walk in to see the toilet.
He was contemplating going to the toilet one late night and thought he might as well as no one would go to the downstairs toilet when the door is broken.
So he's sat on the throne, doing his business when he hears a housemate walking down the hall. He sharply stops, stands in the corner completely naked and tries to pretend that he's not there.
She walks in, sees him standing in the corner naked and the only thing he could think of was "I was going to jump out at you".
She hasn't spoken to him for several months.
