Shooting has just started of the film adaptation of Max Payne, and a first look at the movie's main character is now available. As usual we are not too excited about the film, as every recent game to film translation has left us sick to our very stomachs, but with some people of quality partaking in the project it has a chance of impressing.

Brilliant actor lets hope the film is actually written properly :)

edit: PG-13 rating

fail

PG-13?? How are they supposed to get a strong drug themed film and ultra violence/gang warfare into a PG-13???! Much as I don't want it to, this is going to suck.

It's sickening how all of these rich Americans use well established ideas as a basis to make more money. At the expense of a great idea and game. It seems to be the case with EVERY game to film adaptation I've seen. They just use it as a means to make more money and put no real effort into making it a 'great' film. So many films of games had the potential to be outstanding, but I haven't seen one that I've actually thought: "Yeah, that was pretty good actually."

:(

they could make this soooo big, Sin City has a great max payne atmosphere to it

True. It's the voice overs I think. I'm going to take a fat guess and say the film wont have them. It's just going to use the name.

I hope I'm wrong...

Yeps i think hes a decent actor but as you say pg-13 is gonna make it a lot poorer even if the script is good and just another get the kids in theatres cash in jobbie :(
But as always ill wait till ive seen it

Wharlberg..oh dear! What a gritty, hard actor he is! At any rate films of computer games = lame.

Oh god.... who keeps giving Marky Mark film roles?

Only seen one film that he was in that was remotely enjoyable. Shooter - even that wasn't great.

Johnny Knoxville would have been a better bet than Marky Mark - at least he looked like Max Payne.

so you say he is rubbish because you have watched one of his films? and not a perticularly good one at that.

Marky Mark is alright in action movies, but he's not one I'd recommend for playing a complex character.

Then again I never actually played the Max Payne games so I'm not too sure what the character is like. Iirc it's about a guy that lost his family and goes on a vendetta?
