1p/2p's in a 4.5ltr Bells Bottle.

Just go to an asda store or somewhere that has one of those counting machines. Basically you pour your crap into it adn it returns notes and higher value coins, but it take something like 5% for charity.

Remember that pre <1992 2p coins are worth $0.0617 each, so melting them will yield a tidy profit.

Don't really care how much is there, it's just to keep my desk a bit tidyer. Probably a bit there though as it's full of 10's and 20's aswell as coppers!

Used to have a Bells bottle for collecting coins (1,2,5,10,20p) until i picked it up one day and the bottom fell out of it! Went on to use the metal tins that you get bottles of JD/Whisky in. Couldn't be bothered taking it to the bank so used one of those Coinstar machines and got the grand total of £700'ish back so would think i ended up with a total of about £750 as they take about 7% if i recall correctly.

I think Gilly also had a big bottle like this, which also broke, though he decided he would like to see what head-butting it at 3am would be like and what sort of response his local A&E would give at that time! :) Silly Boy!

my brother and his girlfriend had two of these on the go when they moved in to a council estate.

Being a council estate they obviously got burgled by the local ******.

Brother was driving home and there was 20 kids and there teenage mothers picking up money and bits of glass on the corner of his street.

if u take it to the bank they mite only allow u to put in a certain number of bags of money at a time, mine allows 5 at a time. but a friend took one to asda and it had £400 in it, he lost a lot to the 7% charge too though.

I'm sure I read there are places that have these machines, but don't charge you to use them....some highstreets banks iirc. Can't for the life of me remember which ones though

I'm guessing there will be about £80 in there. I've got a plastic Quality Street tub filled with copper and it holds about £25. The Bells bottle is about 3 times the size.
My bird bought one of the money pots that you need to smash to get the money out. It cost £16, so at first I thought it was a complete waste of money, but it's encouraged me to put in a £1 coin every day and it's now about 75% of its £700 capacity full. I don't notice £1 a day, but I definitely will notice £700 hitting my bank account late this year.

You'll have to put it into little money bags and put in the bag as much as the bag asks.. banks then weigh them..

They dont mind the change as they often need them to give to companies who ask for change for tills etc.. The post office is a good place to try aswell..

Im currently using a box that i got christmas cards in, holds around 20 cards so the copper is slowly filling up so i need to find something else to use..

Last year when I lived in halls, me and a friend ordered a 19quid pizza order from a pizza restaurant. Lets just say he wasn't best pleased when he turned up with lots of tasty grub and I payed him in asda bags full of 1p's and 2p's. :p

I was kind enough to bag it into bags of £5 each though ;)

I have a large Grolsh bottle that I've been filling with 5p coins for over 10 years. Should yield a nice sum if I ever decide to take it to the bank. I also have a large Heinz branded pot for copper coins, and another plastic cup for 10p coins.

I should really count it all out one day, must have a fair few pounds there!
