How much electric would a 17" LCD monitor use?

Hi.

How much electric would a 17" LCD monitor use? Its got 120-240V on the back and 1.5A.

I mean would it cause the electric bill to go up like 5 quid everyn quarter or something? I find dual monitors a lot better, can get more stuff done, no need to mess about shuffling windows, but power consumption does worry me.

34 Watts Maximum would be an average figure for a 17".

However it's impossible to say how much it will cost per quarter, because you haven't said how much it is used.

But for 100 hours it would be 30p assuming 9p/kwh.

Oh, ummm, well around 5 hours a day, sometimes more but I dont go on it every day, but just go along with 5 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Lol seems a rip off to me. I'll just use it, if I hear moaning when the bill comes in I know what it is

When I switch it off at the power button on the front of it how much electric will it use?

1-2w per hour is the standard now for most electricals, should say in the spec sheet depending on what monitor it is.

Why are you running an E6600 @ 3.4Ghz and then moaning about the piddly power consumption of a 17" monitor? Everything uses power. Overclocking a CPU increases the power consumption quite a bit...

I know.

But adding an extra monitor also increases power consumption. See my parents cant see my E6600 clocked to 3.4, but they can see 2 monitors on at the same time.

In fact a lightbulb will probably use as much power as the monitor, if not more.

...unless they're energy saving ones, in which case 3 use less than a 17" LCD.

You could get a laptop and use that when just browsing the web or whatever, they use a tiny amount of power. I only turn my PC on for gaming.

Make sure you have the power saving thing the C2D has turned on. My PC uses 195W (not including monitor) when playing a game but just 98W sat on the desktop.

Btw helmutcheese, energy prices have doubled over the last few years and not everyone is loaded.

just tell them its a magik energy-saving monitor which only uses 5 watts.
