So I created my PSN account the other day and choose UK as my place of residence.
Mainly because when I clicked on Belgium it only gives me french or dutch. Now I don't mind XMB in either of these languages but I can tell you the translations in games into French and Dutch are awful and I prefer my games in english.
Last night I go to purchase something from PSN store only to find that because I choose UK I have to have a UK credit card!
Why do they do these things? It is not enough that I live in Europe?
Now I have to create a french/dutch account and (in the case of warhawk) play the games using my Belgian account which is annoying as basically it means all my friends will have to be on that account otherwise my UK account is gimped as I cannot access any payable downloadable content.
A e-mail is winging it's way to Sony as we speak asking why the credit cards are country bound when the EU is for the free movement of goods and services between countries.
They aren't the only culprits. I downloaded MSN from the US but for some reason all the external components like games and whiteboard the instructions are in Dutch. The e-mails from MSN are in Dutch as well despite me downloading from the US site the english version of MSN. I suppose it's smart in marketing terms but the fact is there is nowhere to click to change my language prefs.
The joys of being expat.
