Who uses gloves at a petrol station?

As someone has previously said, they're provided, and recommended, for use by people filling with diesel. When I'm filling with diesel I always use them. When I'm filling with petrol, I use them only if I'm about to eat sandwiches before getting a chance to wash my hands first.

That's why you wash your hands before eating...

The stations round near me never have them, but I don't see the point in using them anyway.

Petrol is probably quite a good sanitiser in the same way as alcohol hand stuff is used in hospitals.

Put a tiny drop of diesel on your hands and see what they smell like all day ... not the same with petrol.

Because diesel is horrible, smelly stuff and the smell lingers and lingers if you get it on your hands...

both diesel and petrol contain significant amounts of cancer causing chemicals - luckily i don't have a car but if i was using the same chemicals in my lab (which i do) i would be wearing gloves.

And diesel is sticky unlike petrol so gets on your hands and stays there.

I just use them because I don't like getting my hands dirty lol even though i'll still wash them when I get home after putting petrol in!

Nope! You know they provide a handle and a pump, your not scooping up the petrol with your hand and putting it in your car!

I've never put them on for putting petrol in, but I've had a handful for making strange waterbombs.

Some of you guys make it sound like you pour the petrol over your hands whilst filling up. I've never experienced splash back or anything.
