Well!, basically ive now been looking around for a car. i did 5 or 6 insurance quotes for different cars and my lord they confused me. check these 3 out.

Car Make/Model: Nissan Micra E
Registered: 2003
Worth: 3000 to 4000 pounds
Engine Size: 1 litre
Premium £35.40 / Month

Car Make/Model: Ford Fiesta LX
Registered: 1994
Worth: 200 to 500 Pounds
Engine Size: 1 Litre
Premium £42.19 / Month

Car Make/Model: Citroen Saxo VTR
Registered: 1998
Worth: 1000 to 1500
Engine Size: 1.6 litre
Premium £44.68 / Month

Baring in mind, These quotes are for a experienced driver and also a 2nd driver with no license (learner).
I know the prices arnt much different but i mean, they just seem very odd, the price differences between each car i mean,
before i had these quotes i would have thought the VTR would have been a straight ''Are you silly, were not insuring you'' when im on the insurance anyway but its only another 2 pound more than the 1 litre fiesta i mean, HUH!.

and then you got a 1994 LX 1 litre which is dearer than the 03 nissan micra, i was like a serious WTF. i dont know, i really dont, can someone do any explaining here ? explain how insurances work and in particular cars.

cheers

All I know about insurance is they overcharge me!

My renewal comes up soon - I paid £1200 last year for 3rd party, fire and theft on a Rover 200, and they quoted me £1300 for this year, even with the 1 years of NCB! Madness. Needless to say next weekend I'll be doing my insurance homework, don't want to have to pay through the roof again.

Probably take statistics of each car into account as well. Regarding thefts, accidents etc. Also they will take into account how much damage your car will do to a 3rd party.

I can insure a Focus 2.0ltr for the same price as a Fiesta 1.25 =/ So no, dosent always make sense.

i got quoted 4k a year for my Fiesta ST today...

Direct line are 1k and Green flag are 600... guess where im going... defo not the 4k quote lol

What company were those quotes with? Some companies actually insure you CHEAPER if the car is worth £3000 rather than £500.

As commited says. I went from a £3k Saxo VTR (0-60 in 9) to a £500 106 diesel (0-60 in 15?). Insurance went up by £50 per year. Daft.

first off, fiestas are always more expensive to insure for some reason.

the micra is cheapest due to more safety features ect.
