3870x2 going slow

Got a new Corsair 620 psu and have connected it up and the 3870x2 is running really slow, like its starved of power.
Have I connected it wrong, have two 8 pin connectors, so have plugged one 8 pin in, then into PSU, then used just the six pins of the other one into the other space in the psu, so hence using two different rail.
Should I have used just one of these black connectors and one of my own 6 pin connectors plugged into a molex off the same rail, hence using only one 12v rail.
The card was fine before on my Antec 550w using a 6 pins connected to seperate molexs.

the reason I say its slow is crysis bench is down to 23fps from 46fps.
 
Well its not a driver issue, now on the laptop as just a minute ago the system just shut down for no reason, booted back up again, but something must be wrong, all was well with the 550w Antec Truepower, only got this as I wanted abit of future proofing with some stronger rails.
 
yeah I know that, but you get two different cables, which are both 6+2 pin, and you have two plugs on back of PSU, which is what I am plugging the cables into.
So are you meant to use just one connector that they supply and one of your own 6 pins, which is what you would do if you had another 3870x2 as you would need an 8 pin for that card, hope I am explaining this right.
Its slow in all game, really bad, is it possible the PSU is faulty.

You can also just use 2x 6x Pins, 8x Pin isn't required, unless you want the Overdrive tab ungreyed out from in the drivers. :)

Have you definately connected the correct 8x Pin, if your not sure, then id try the 2x 6 Pins to see if it still runs slow, as that PSU is easily enough to power it, and if you have enough power connectors on your PSU to plug in (which you will have on the Corsair), then theres no need to use the power adapter that came with the card, thats only to be used if your PSU doesn't have enough connectors.

Definately connected the right one, they are labled PCI-E anyway and there are two of these both 6+2 pin.
I do want overdrive ungreyed in the control centre, one of the reasons for buying this PSU was to have the 8 pin connectors, seeing as they are so hard to get hold of.
Also the fact easier to overclock in control centre than AMDgputool, which is a lot of messing around. You get higher clocks with it, but prefer control for ease of use.
Its not the card as with my 550w Antec, I could get clocks of 900/1080 with no aftifacts and really stable aswell.
It dont half give you the hump when you buy new hardware only to run into problems.

My cables must be different to yours then as i have 2 cables but each cable has 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin so all together i have got 2x6 pin and 2x8 pin connectors.
 
My DS4 also has a connector on the board for PCI-E, maybee I should check that is plugged in properly, I am sure it is.

My cables are a 6 pin on one end that plugs in the PSU and on the other end is a 6+2 connector, I have two of these.
I thought it seemed abit odd.

will do, but I think my new PSU might be buggered, gonna do some testing with my old one in the morning and check all connections on this one first.
 
I thought I better wrap this up, it turned out my fan wasn't spinning on my Zalman 9500 so cpu was throttling.
