Hi Guys
I`m off to vegas for my hols next week (for 4 weeks), and im thinking of buying Vista Ultimate 64 bit retail version.
I have looked on the web and found the price in one of there local stores is going for $399...as the pound is strong i think it might be worth it.
I already have the oem version, but is it still true that if you change your mobo microsoft will not activate your windows if you have the oem version of vista?
Would i have to pay tax on buying vista in the u s as im from the uk...when it comes to installing.
Cheers!!!

Why not just email yourself the install key? No need to bring any discs through customs. Use a Vista Ultimate 64 bit retail disc from a mate with your key.

Or will this not work? Anyone?

Ohhh... he actually meant buying the software legitimately and then not bringing it back with him... instead emailing only the key from the packet? He ACTUALLY meant that?:D

Yes, I did mean that. Have I said something stupid? Perhaps I have. I've had a few late nights recently so my brain might not be quite in gear.

You are in the US on holiday. Pick up Vista Ultimate full retail version in store at $399, which is approx £200. Cost in the UK approx £320. You have a ligit OS with a £120 saving.

I don't know if there will be any problem activating a US copy from a UK IP address (or any other problems) which is why I said "Or will this not work?".

I was only teasing... but you're saying not to bring the actual software back with you and just email the license key? So what do you do with the retail box?

Bin it, but don't leave the key with it obviously. No need to risk carrying it through customs. It's the licence you're paying for. You can download the disc contents or borrow a disc.
