Good idea or Bad idea? Would it work?

Basically what i want to do is cut the wires of say the molex or sata cables then rejoin them...in some way?...then tape them up with isulating tape. Would that work?

You should be able to do it, however the very fact that you are asking the question suggests to me that it probably isn't a great idea for you to try. It might be better to try to work on your cable routing and it is less likely to lead to any issues with dodgy connections.

As semi-pro said it is possible, there are videos around for it on the net done by people who know what they are doing, but i wouldn't do it. If its that much of an issue try a braiding kit or grab a modular PSU

Have you ever tried, its impossible to pull them out.

you just need a jewelers screwdriver, they have tiny teeth that keep them in place :) easy to remove

Sounds like OP doesn't know what he's doing...if you put the pins the incorrect place..bang.

rejoin them...in some way?...then tape them up with isulating tape.

Unless you can refit and finish the ends to safe and secure way, leave it alone. Twisting the wires and wrapping in insulation tape is not sufficient.

What about some plastic terminal blocks then? Avaliable from all good DIY stores you can screw in place two wires to join them together.

PK!

If you really want to snip them then as pointed out above cut, solder and heatshrink the wires, I personally wouldn't leave them taped.

You can also do as suggested above and that is remove each pin from the molex connector, if you have a look at the pins you'll see each has 2 small tabs, push the tabs in and the pin should then come out. When fitting it all back again make sure you bend the tabs back out so that when insterted the tabs spring back out and hold the pin in place.
All this arse to hide the wires, just hide them best you can and use some cable ties to hold/hide wires in place.
