Lately I notice there is some rust on one of my rear brake discs of my car in the morning (the brake is the one usually facing the wind and rain), as soon as I am at work after driving 30 minutes the disc is clean (from braking?) but is this rust normal or is there soemthing I need to do about it?

Completely normal.
My disks can go from completely untarnished to full on yellow in the time it takes me to clean the car.

It amazes me how fast the rust can appear, I came home last night at 21:00 with clean discs and left this morning at 08:00 and they were completely rusty and after a 30 minute drive they wer clean again.

They get all shiny again so quickly because the first time you use the brakes the pads effectively scrub all the rust off the discs... This is presumably why brake discs in our rainy climate don't last all that long!

And yes, particularly when washing the car discs can go rusty in 10 or so minutes. So can any highly polished corrosion-prone material.

Would be interesting to hear how long brake discs tend to last out in the less rainy countries tho... I know there are a few people on these forums from the US etc...

It takes me a month or two of not driving very much or at all to get rust on my disks:)

Perfectly normal.

In fact this afternoon I saw an R8 parked outside a Hotel I was staying at with orange disks all round, it was nasty out last night.
