Found this story horrible, as somebody who is close friends with a lot of "Goths" (hate that term ) it's absolutely ridiculous that people treat others differently because of the clothes they wear...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/7291985.stm

A 15-year-old boy kicked and stamped to death a woman because she was dressed as a Goth, a court heard.

The drunk teenager was among a gang of five who "savagely and mercilessly" attacked Sophie Lancaster, 20, and her boyfriend, Preston Crown Court heard.

A 20 year old girl kicked to death because of the choice of clothes she wears, and her boyfriend savagely beaten.

Why? Just... Why? :(

Point aside about my opinions on "goths" it's totally disheartening that they were victims as a result of the clothes they wore. Totally out of order they were essentially judged for what they looked like :(

I was reading about this today, really is a sad situation.

But the main thing that concerns me is, why on earth should they protect the identity of the attacker?! Publicly shame them tbh.

Awful story :( . I'm not a goth so can only imagine the sort of daily abuse they get - must be terrible.

What can be done to get these feral youths back under control?

i've always figured you as a goth..?

Couldn't be further from the truth.

Lysander's well goffik innit.

I just enjoy loud shouty music.

Other than the beard, sideburns, mohawk, piercings and so on, I look just like everyone else ;)

The law should be changed. Their age shouldn't prevent them being named.

I can think of a name for them, it starts with C, ends in T and isn't Coconut.

sad but on another note what is the deal with these goth freaks

I'd say most people that are "Goths" would say it's about doing your own thing and being an individual. Yet realistically you're just joining in with a different crowd of people.

Musically I'd say most "Goths" I know aren't hugely up on the cliché of death metal and shouty/screamy music. But it's a stereotypical view of them I guess? I know a fair few who are into dance/trance/reggae/pop/rock/r&b/accoustic etc...

What do you define a goth as? Somebody who listens to Metal style music? Somebody who dresses in black? Depressed people? Take your pick *shrugs*

Pretty bad, but honestly, when everyone has knives is it wise to dress like that. Aside from looking like a fool it is dangerous!

So black people, Muslim people, Asian people (etc) shouldn't walk down the street because there are racists with knives out there that might kill them too? Get real.
