Got to say I prefer the second set to the first ones but I suppose that's because you're limited a bit in how expressive you can be with a car on a track given the limited range of viewing angles.

nice shots man,
can I ask how you went about getting a media pass?

I wasnt sure the best way to approach it?

I really need one for brands, and snetterton this year.
As I will be going to these a lot this year.

whats the best way to get a media pass?

best one I did without a media pass was prob this one.

I was there on behalf of one of the papers local to home; trying to get in as a freelancer was getting me nowhere fast. Shame the bloke I was supposed to be photographing wasn't actually there.......

I simply emailed the Sports editors at several local papers asking if they'd like me to cover the event (we should have had a local guy driving) and one agreed; they got the pics for free and I got a media pass for the day. (The pass was for the specific event, specific venue and specific day; you'll have to be very lucky to swing a pass that gets you both circuits for the whole season.......)

Best advice, do your homework, find some specific local relevance to the papers you're contacting and try being cheeky. Likelihood is you'll get knocked back, but if you don't ask.......

Was more of the place open to the public in the morning? I didn't get there until 1:30

See above!! :D

However, with no pass, the best place to stand was behind the pits; with the pits behind you, head away from the grandstands and off to the right (past the filling station). There's a big security guy resicting access to the infild, but the fnce ends jus before the guy and, if you're there early, there's room for a couple of people to shoot across to the bottom of the hairpin and pan as they head up the straight back toward the start/finish area.

oh right.

I'll give it a try with Thomas Cook and maybe a couple of local papers and sports.

How did you get hold of the media pass?
did you need to contact the circuit direct? or the media's wou would work for?

I need to get into a few to build up a portfolio.
cutting it behind a wire fence just isnt going to get the same effect I want.

I been lucky with a few of my shots, but I dont want to be lucky with photography.

I'll get emailing then :)
