How much electric would a 17" LCD monitor use?

Lol, I might just get a laptop as I'll need one for Uni anyway, has to be a good one tho aint settling for a slow one!!.

Will using speedstep and all that reducing CPU power on desktop reduce power consumption from the PC actually make up for saving the power the 17" monitor will use?

turn lights off when ever you can and you'll make back ten times that!

Reducing the cpu voltage in the bios should cancel out the extra cost. I can get my athlon to run at 1.0v at stock speeds, reducing the max power usage from 89W to 48W!
