2008 Australian GP - Race 1/18

I literally cant wait.

Will be watching the re runs on qualifying and the race though by the looks of things as I think I might be out on friday and saturday nights.

I'l have to try my best not to catch the news or anything though, which will be a little hard :p

i am looking forward to this season so much. Last season was the first that i really got into, but i hate the races that have these stupid start time, oh well looks like i will have to record it and shoot anyone who tries to tell me the winner!

Maybe I need to come up there! Thinking I'll stay up for the qualifying and wake up for the race. Luckily not working Monday so plenty of recovery time.

White Hart holsworthy

£25 gets you

Champers and Canape's on arival at midnight.

so i can now start my day of sports at 1pm with the rugby, followed at 3pm with more rugby followed by rugby at 5pm. and get going with the F1 party at midnight.

good day to come :D

There are a number of technical & rule changes for 2008, hopefully I've captured the important ones

The typical mix, hey? Little that'll actually improve the racing, lot's of nonsense, a bit of safety.

Standard ECUs (no traction control or launch control)

Wow! Something that effects the racing. Shocker. Should be interesting to see how they cope.

Gearboxes must last for 4 races although like engines are not restricted on Fridays.
Gear ratios may be changed although any other changes will result in a five place grid penalty.

*sigh* More needless pit penalties.

The first engine failure for each car will be allowed without penalty

That's something at least.

Cars may not refuel after the end of Q3 so will start the race with the fuel they finish Q3 with.

What a load of cobblers. I wish they'd just let them pick the fuel load at the start of the race, and qualify with vapours like they used to. Fixing the fuel loads adds nothing to the race.

A minimum of 5.75% of the fuel must be from a biological source.

Uh-huh. So, er, where do they think the rest will come from? Any biofuels? Gads!

Spare cars have been banned, spare chassis may be taken to the race but only in disassembled form.

Oh, great. That'll help. No really.

Am I the only one who thinks the folk who run F1 are imbeciles?

ITV secures exclusive F1 online video
Thursday, 13 March 2008 00:00

ITV has announced a deal with Formula One Management (FOM) to acquire the UK online rights for Formula 1 on itv.com/f1 ahead of the new Formula 1 season, which kicks off this weekend (March 14-16) at the Australian Grand Prix.

This significant acquisition will see itv.com/f1 become the online home of Formula 1 in the UK, supporting the broadcast coverage on ITV1, whilst offering new and exclusive interactive action and news plus post-race highlight packages – all located here at itv.com/f1.

As part of the deal, itv.com/f1 will stream live simulcasts of the races, along with a live feed from Friday practice, which is currently not broadcast on any channel in the UK.

The new F1 content for itv.com will include:

* Exclusive video footage, including a post-race highlights package containing all of the action from the track with interviews and features hosted by the ITV team

* Live online streaming of Friday practice – not currently available to UK audiences

* Simulcasts of the race and qualifying

* 30-day catch-up service of the F1 coverage on ITV

* Clips from the post-event press conferences with the drivers

Annelies Van den Belt, MD, Broadband commented: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer live streaming Formula 1 video action to fans.

“Our coverage of the Friday practice will provide fans with direct access to all the action that they simply won’t find on TV.

“The itv.com/f1 website has been established as one of the best sport sites on the web for a number of years, and this only strengthens our claim to be the top online destination for F1 fans in the UK."

Mark Sharman, ITV's Director of News and Sport said: “We know from listening to our viewers that there is great demand from motorsport fans to watch F1 practice sessions and press conferences.

“This is yet another example of how we are using ITV’s digital channels and new media platforms to extend our award-winning coverage of sport to complement the big events on ITV1.”

Formula One Management said: “With UK Formula 1 audiences reaching their highest levels in many years, it gives us great pleasure to fuel this resurgence further with the introduction of online rights to complement ITV's broadcast coverage.”

The success of Lewis Hamilton in 2007 drove ITV’s F1 viewing figures to their highest volume since 2001, with almost 11 million watching live as Hamilton narrowly missed out on clinching the world title at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Friday practices :D Bout time.

Grumbles about having to work at 7am this weekend. Can't staying up as that would be mad, so i'm going to try and wake up for the race....I think i'm a bit mad as i'll be working to 8pm =/

It's about time ITV sorted out better coverage through the web. They should put Friday practice on ITV 4 or something as well. You can watch EVERYTHING that happens in Moto GP and WTCC on track on Eurosport.
