As title, I have £300 to spend on a 24" monitor...

Back when I got my 2407 there were only a couple or 24 inchers to choose from, but now there's loads of choice, so hopefully you can help me narrow it down!

What I'm looking for:

Widescreen, obviously.

Black preferred (but by no means a deal breaker).

Must have a DVI input, other inputs not really important (although HDMI may be useful at some point in the future).

VESA mount compatible.

Good viewing angles.

Not the OcUK Value.

I was looking at the Samsung 245B, but apparantly it has a TN panel? As it's going to be used as a TV (secondary to PC use) a TN panel isn't an option.

So what should I be looking at? :)

Why not just keep the 2407?

It's for my sister. She can't really spend much more than £300.

I'm thinking of getting myself a 2408 (as I should be able to get it ex. VAT), then letting her have my 2407 for £300.

That way I've got something to look forward to, and she gets a better monitor. :D

The HP w2408h gets good reviews, and although it is a TN panel, it can adjust side-to-side, up and down and rotate to make viewing away from the desk more comfortable. It comes to well under £300 with a voucher from the manufacturer.

That actually looks pretty swish. And I love glossy screens!

Totals £293.99 inc. delivery with a £40 off voucher.

I'll have a read through some reviews. Cheers! :)

Despite the problems, the OCUK monitor looks and works very well, though I am awaiting replacement of the TN version. People when the get the right one get a monitor with PVA or S-PVA panels and it is way under the budget you have.

I recommend the BenQ G2400W in black.

There are two models -- one with only VGA (G2400WA), and one with VGA, DVI and HDMI. Obviously the latter is the best. I know you're not looking for a TN panel but this is a surprisingly decent one and viewing angles are good on mine. I got mine for £263 delivered.

Wicked monitor for the cash!
