Any cheap/good 42" 1080p TVs out there?

As title goes really, I am looking at a 50" Samsung for some time now which has been out of stock for a very long time, it was even on OcUK but has been removed from this site.

Anyway, I'm wondering what good 42" TVs are out there which have 1080p and at a good price. Make doesn't matter to much as long as the specs are there, 1080p being a must and a decent price.

I know I could trawl for the information myself but having done this over 50" TVs and spending hours upon hours I would much rather someone else's opinion on the 42" series as there is much more out there.

Budget is say about £800 for a 42 inch. Thanks

EDIT: Forgot to point out I am looking for a Plasma TV not LCD

Panasonic TH-42PZ70B, 1080p 42" plasma.

You can pick one up for around £850, maybe cheaper if you look hard enough. You definately wont find anything better for the price.

Just had a quick google, cheapest I can find it almost 1k! Although if you say it can be had for about £850 im sure I can find it eventually.

Generally Plasma's aren't reccomended for gaming due to screen burn.

I thought newer plasma's were much better these days for gaming? Some also have a setting for gaming specifically.

They are OK for gaming and it will look perfectly reasonable, but if gaming is your priority then an LCD will look better.

Problem is LCD technology ghosting and input lag is an issue with SPVA HDTV's, The LCD choice for gaming are the TN panels but they suck as TV's' due to the poor colours and viewimg angles.

I went LCD based on games but in light of the above and general TV use I wish i had waited to get a PZ panasonic.

Toshiba 42Z3030DB

Is what you want. Slightly above budget but has an all round awesome connectivity, great panel. Good contrast/black levels and built in Onkyo speakers

It can be had for around 870-930 if you shop around. Brilliant reviews all round, and I personally got this telly after doing around 3 months of research on reviews of 42" 1080p LCDs.

not strictly true for all plasmas.
