Champions League Quarter/Semi Final Draw + Uefa CUp

Haven't read thread - but totally unsurprised that once again Man UTD and Chelsea get wibbly draws in Europe. Whoever wins out of us or Liverpool will deserve to win the title.

What a load of cobblers. For a start United and Chelsea won their groups so some could say they deserve easier fixtures. Secondly, Chelsea will have to contest either Arsenal/Liverpool and potentially Barcelona/United, would they not be worthy winners? Same goes for United.

Big deal you have a tough 1/4 final draw, any team that wins it this year will deserve it.

Quite happy with drawing Arsenal, I'm very confident we will beat them convincingly and move onto Chelsea in the Semi's. Roma was actually the team I feared most, I reckon they will beat United.

As for Gerrard being suspended, not true.

Rangers have been given a good draw to reach the final.
IF we can beat Sporting Lisbon we still avoid Bayern Munich in the semis - playing either Fiorentina or PSV. Could an historic quardruple be on the cards for Walter Smith's blue and white army? We can but dream.

Roma are a good team.
However, we are better :)
I see them as on a similar level to Lyon. Probably generally stronger as a collective but without such an attacking threat (Totti is rubbish imo).
We should beat such a team but I anticipate SAF making it difficult for us.
He will probably go to Italy and stack the midfield, looking for a draw (much like against Lyon).
However, I feel if we were to really have a go at them, our speed of attack would prove far too much (as often is the case for english teams vs italian) and we would win in Rome.
But if they are allowed to bring something with them back to OT, it could go either way.
Currently I suspect an arsenal - man united final :D

Chelsea's last 5 CL knockout round draws:

2004 v Stuttgart>Arsenal>Monaco
2005 v Barcelona>Bayern>Liverpool
2006 v Barcelona
2007 v Porto>Valencia> Liverpool
2008 v Olympiakos>Fenerbache

Arsenal's:

2004 v Celta Vigo>Chelsea
2005 v Bayern
2006 v RM>Juventus>Villereal>Barcelona
2007 v PSV
2008 v AC Milan>Liverpool

Man. U.:

2003 v RM
2004 v Porto
2005 v AC Milan
2007 v Lille>Roma>AC Milan
2008 v Lyon>Roma

Liverpool:

2002 v Bayer Lever.
2005 v Bayer Lever>Juventus>Chelsea>AC Milan
2006 v Benfica
2007 v Barcelona>PSV>Chelsea>AC Milan
2008 v Inter>Arsenal

This is also the first year Chelsea have been top seeds in the group stages so even they haven't been easy draws, granted we could've had harder draws this year but on the whole they've been has tough as any other teams so stop your whingeing;)

depends who the goals are against totti is good but has that tendency to go missing against the good defenders

Umm...18 games and 8 goals, no you couldn't.

Ok well i meant before the injury's mr! a lot of those appearances were for 5 minutes as he hobbled on on crutches.
Regardless, perhaps Totti isnt "rubbish". Tbh, I dont see enough italian football to be sure.
But he has always been poor against the top teams when I have seen him.

Point taken, he doesn't exactly shine against top teams, that's for sure.

What has coming where in the group stages have anything to do with a randomised draw? Sorry but that arguement is fairly limp.

I was going to try and find some stats but JonnyG has above. Interesting, I reckon Barca will get you in the semi-final and then I'm hoping (as said above) to get a crack at revenge in the final.

First things first though - gotta beat the red scouse ;)

Something my gooner mate pointed out:
05' final Liverpool - Milan
06' final Barca - Arsenal
07' final Liverpool - Milan
08' final Barca - Arsenal?

Shame its not going to happen though. I feel fairly confident that we'll beat Arsenal quite comfortably tbh and with the way we're playing (and the fact that the pressure is on both Utd and Arsenal to beat us), i can see us getting a couple of decent results in the league games vs Utd and Arsenal.
liverpool vs barca final
I fancy that too but with the final in Moscow (and with the fixed draw) ive got a bit of a feeling Chelsea may make the final.

Nothing, hence I said "some would say". Either way why should Arsenal or Liverpool get the divine right of having an "easy" fixture. As Johnny posted above there's not much to complain about anyway, if you're gonna win the CL you always end up having to beat someone good eventually.
