Tiger Tiger is unfortunately one of those rites of city passage. You might think it'll be better than the previous venue you went to in another city but, well, it won't be

I'd argue that the Newcastle one is in a better area / looks nicer

Leeds/Wakefield/Batley are my regular haunts.
I'm going up to Leeds next weekend for a few nights with the lads, and rather than start a fresh thread thought it would be better to post in here- what/where are the best clubs/bars in the city? The venues that aren't to be missed, so to speak.
I've been to Leeds before for a day just before christmas so am slightly acquianted with the city centre.

please do not goto tiger tiger or oceana,,, both absolute shisen..actually come to think, leeds is not great on a weekend unless you like your house/dnb/breaks music. Get down to call lane or greek street, some great bars down there then hopefully you'll be battered enough and charming enough to follow a group of girls to a club to cut some shapes.

(It was a good 10 years ago since I went out in Batley btw)

Nope. Just decent music.
TigerTiger is just soulless. I cannot for the life of me figure out why people even bother.
We usually do some normal pubs like O'Neills and a couple of Wetherspoons for tramp spotting (and cheapo rounds). We then hit Greek Street and do All Bar One, Prohibition etc.
Quite a few very nice bars down towards the Calls also. BRB, Jakes Bar and Grill, Normans (getting very snobbish, used to be great).
Then at the top end of town you have North Bar and Reform, both very good!

not my scene but I know of a few grubby awful student "metal / indie crud" nights
dry dock and the cockpit
never been but heard they are truly awful

dry dock is quite good actually, tuesdays is £1 a pint and other very cheap drinks, packed with scene kids though which sucks, but any other night is usually okay. the library (further up towards hyde park) is better, ran by the same company, same prices etc, but just nicer.
cockpit on saturdays is pretty good, mainstream american tunes basically (jimmy eat world, head automatica) which is very singable to when you're fully intoxicated.
carpe diem is a basement pub just off the headrow i think it is, which does some good gigs and some good music aswell. check out Trash in the main town (underground bar) which sometimes has some good bands on despite looking like a craphole.
oceana on a tuesday is alright until about 11pm when they shut all of downstairs and then all is left is the oldies on the upper floor?? weird.
