My dad is after a series of radio programs made in the 1950's (journey into space) on BBC radio. However trying to find them is hard. Now i have noticed them on p2p programs a few years ago (on 28k so no option) and am now wondering would it still be illegal (breaking copyright laws) for me to download them as they were;

a) on radio ?
b) 50/60 years ago?

Just wondering!

Found this through http://www.caret.cam.ac.uk/copyright/Page171.html#Topic180

50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the recording is made. However if during that period the recording is published, copyright expires 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which it is first published. If the recording is not published by is otherwise communicated to the public, then copyright expires 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which it is first so made available.

or you could just download it since its you who pays for the BBC. Why should iPlayer stuff be free for everyone, even those who dont pay taxes or TV licenses, when you who does cant download the things you want because BBC hasnt bothered making them widely available!

It is illegal, but i cant ever imagining BBC taking people to court for it, there would be public outrage, they are an institution that is meant to serve the public.
