Report back on how pants they are with the amp. I'm not a believer that subs need to be expensive. Tempted to put a couple under the rear seats in the Navara

Will do. On the 400 watt one they barely work, if you turn the gain up they just pulse - so I opted for a cheap Shark amp, submitted best offer of about £40 I think.

If you are going for sound quality then yes, spend money on good components. For thump you shouldn't need to - particularly on subs and amps. Speakers are another story, I use an old set of JBL GTO and they are very good.
