*** England vs. New Zealand Cricket (Spoilers) ***

Great performace by Anderson there, proved me wrong which is brilliant. Now he needs to keep bowling like that and get some consistency.

Our score of 342 does look very competitive for that pitch and we got them in under 4 sessions rather than the 12 so plenty of time left in the game.

First job, get rid of the new ball. Then bat the day, maybe get them in for 8-10 overs depending on how fast we score our runs. Think Vaughan might be tempted to bat the day and completely shut New Zealand out of the game though.

As long as we don't have a collapse we're in with a great chance of getting a win here.
 
We all know Jimmy can bowl like that so good for him. Let's just hope he can keep it up. Great comeback from England really after the first test, we now need to follow this through and win as the momentum will be with us and we would stand a decent chance of winning the series.

Yep, I feel England need a good winning wicket to perform. On slow flat wickets they seem to collapse playing slow cricket.


Anderson a very good pick, he has being in form lately also played a few matches for a local NZ team so isn’t short of wicket time unlike Harmison. IMO Strauss need to go asap if he plays poorly in this game, I don’t know why they kept him in the team :(
 
Gutted Vaughan has gone and the run machine Strauss is in. We need to just get through this new ball. 11 Overs old now and every over seen through is vital. Then we can build some momentum and get some good runs.

LOL cooks first 6 in any form of international cricket. A nice top edge over the keeper, not quite how he would have wanted it!!

Is something he does need to add to his game, the odd big shot. Heard about him slog sweeping the odd spinner in warm up games, maybe something he's practicing.
 
England in control now. Closed on 277/9, 421 ahead. Jimmy managed to turn his ankle playing footbal afterwards though which is just typical :p. Good news is he hasn't been sent for a scan or anything so hopefully a night's rest and he'll be right. KP had horrendous luck again, looked like he was going to get on top of the bowling very quickly then got run out by a bowler's deflection onto the non-striker's end :(.
 
I can't see us losing this now, it would take a monumental effort from the Black Caps to chase that down, but if Anderson is ruled out, it could be close.
 
Anderson hasn't been in form at all. He did nothing special in the kiwi state sides and he has been pants in the ODI's, T20's, the past Tests he has played in. He blows hot and cold. His 5fers are usually followed by wicketless tons.

The point is he is match fit and has played a lot of cricket unlike harmison, when Harmison has a few games under his belt and playing more confident he will walk straight back in, Broad needs to stay IMO to build a youthful squad.
 
The only side Harmison will be walking into is the Durham side. His England days are over IMO. His problem is by the time he has a 'few games under his belt' the tour is over. He isn't cut out for international cricket anyway. He is a cry baby who misses Durham. He'll be seeing a lot of that place from now on, lovely place it is :)

We shall see, he is still a very good bowler only time will tell and there is a lot of cricket left in Harmison so I feel he will be bowling for England again.
 
Anderson's just passed a fitness test which is good news.

Was a good days work yesterday. Think they might send out Anderson and Panesar for some batting practice. We need to get at them today, Anderson needs to show the consistency that he's lacked so far.

On a slight side note, Trescothick has pulled out of Somersets 12 day pre season tour. That supposed stress related injury again.
 
We dropped a few catches, including a sitter by Collingwood.:eek:

Once we break through McCullum and Vettori, we should be home and dry.
