2008 Australian GP - Race 1/18

To me Hamilton is becoming the next Schumacher. Not because of his driving tallent, more because he just seems to have everything go his way and basically sit back and relax at the front. I'm acutally starting to hope he doesnt do well! Shame for Kimi, the not so much ice man this time round, I think if he'd started in the front few rows he'd have beat hamilton, and for the love of god ferrari get that reliablilty sorted out or its going to cost you the championship.

Closing the pits when they need fuel is a joke. What is the point in having a 10 sec penalty and then being disqualified anyway? He could have sat at the end of the pitlane and caught fire whilst waiting I guess

edit: ITV says red light was only on whilst the Safety Car passed the exit, so that is fair enough :)

The team brought Lewis in early for both stops thinking there may be a safety car, Lewis driving so quick at the beginning allowed them to do that, so not really luck at all.

Leagues better with no TC, great race.

The no fueling when SC is out is daft though - its going to lead to cars running out on the track, obv dangerous.

Its better than the mad panic when everyone just dives into the pits at the first hint of the safety car that used to happen.

IRL/Champ Car or what ever its going to be called this year has a decent system in that if the car must come in for fuel it is allowed to receive an emergency allocation (something like 10ltrs) to get it back out until it is allowed to come in.

Just finishing watching it, great race. Very pleased that Ferrari have a few problems. :D
DC comment on Massa was brilliant.
Kov mistake was just made even better with his quote. :D

Being a bit of a lightweight, I've just finished watching the recording of the race and it was certainly entertaining. Ragged, but entertaining.

The top three was perfectly acceptable. Lewis did the job in a professional manner and I was very pleased to see Rosberg got a podium. Most satisfying of all though was to see the 'unfashionable' BMW driver get another second place.

And concerning the Ferrari's... Well, I couldn't care less about Massa and I hope that Crazy Dave is as good as his word! :D But it was a bit of a nightmare for Kimi. :(

Gutted for Bourdais too.

Great race! Full of action, and great to see Kimi completely lose his cool on what, three occasions? Superbly entertaining.

I must've missed DCs comment on Masa, what did he say?

Ohh they must have been reading Nostradamus in the McLaren garage before the race to predict safty cars.

Got up at 8am to watch the race from TiVo.

Was really looking forward to a good race with plenty of action and certainly wasn't disappointed!

Ferrari although strong in testig couldn't cope with the heat today and showed issues with reliability, it will interesting to see what Malaysia brings.

As a McLaren fan I'm pleased to see us top of the constructors, shame it wasn't a 1-2 but a solid performance with no real dramas (apart from bashing the pit lane speed limiter!)

Liked Ron's reaction when Kovvy passed Alonso, shame it didn't stick but at least Kovvy didn't just give up and protect the engine.

Thankfully it's only a week until the next race and with Hull KR beating Castleford last night it's been a pretty good weekend for me!

Good to see no TC has caught out Kimi... it's going to be just like last year except instead of learning how to use the brakes he will be learning how to use the throttle pedal for the first half of the season :D:cool:

This season really is going to seperate the really good racing drivers from just the good racing drivers.

Good race, shame so many went out early. Ferrari suffer bad case of bad luck and silly driver mistakes.

Good showing from Williams and impressed by Honda's improved pace. I think I predicted a Top 10 finish for Honda in the pre season testing thread... shame Rubens decided to leave the pits on a red.... but then again looking at how many finished ANYONE could have had a top 10 finish!

Good stuff, glad to hear Hamilton took the honours...anyone but Alonso and Kimmi:p. Didnt stay up to watch the race but will catch the highlights later on...sounds like a pretty decent race.

Got my fingers crossed that this Hamilton finally takes the F1 title.

umm 'finally'

perhaps you didn't follow F1 when Mansell was stumbling from one tragedy to another.:D

I got up early and watched the race this morning and tbh, nothings changed :(. Another Albert Park procession with far too many safety cars and too many cars not finishing. McLaren and Ferrari look quick again with BMW a couple of tenths a lap slower.

Ok, there was the odd overtaking manoeuvre but the general racing was complete rubbish with too many accidents. DC fell asleep again, Massa didn't wake up at the start, Kimi had "one of those days" and Alonso is off the pace in a slow car (lucky for him that Heikki hit that pit lane limiter ;) ).

Same story again when it comes to tailing slower cars, you just can't get close enough to the car in front due to the turbulent air.

Good to see Rubens doing well, assuming the Honda still isn't perfect it was a good performance :). Well, apart from pitting under the safety car, think those rules may need to get changed if there are going to be the same number of incidents requiring a safety car during the race.

Roll on Malaysia :).
