2008 Australian GP - Race 1/18

Watching now as I couldnt be bothered staying up this morning.

One thing I have to say is that I hate the new sponsor ad during the breaks now.

What the hell is up with the music its bloody rubbish. God damn Sony!!

He may well eclipse Schumachers records but then will he take the same chance as Schumacher did when he went to Ferrari? If Schumacher had not done that I wonder how many times World Champ he'd have been and how many wins etc he'd have had.

Schumi probably could have been a tart and won far more, after his second championship i bet he could have any seat on the grid at any time

Yep, MS couldve even stayed at Bennetton who probably wouldve continued delivering him championship winning cars. He went to Ferrari and immediately had to start from scratch (in terms of development and adapting his driving style to the new car).

At the time, most people said that his move was motivated by money (he was given the highest salary of any other F1 driver, at that time).

I guess we shall never know.

That incident's [Kimi Raikkonen veering off the track] perfect example where Engine Braking could have helped/saved him.

He was breaking, from high speed. His left wheels were both on grass, while the other 2 were on tarmac. There is no amount of engine management that couldve prevented him from going off.

I cant be 100%, but thats how I see it.

If engine control and TC are the be all and end all, then accidents in the last 5-10yrs or so, shouldve been non-existent, which we know is not the case.

I just think that too much is being made out of the loss of TC.

Just finished watching the recording I made overnight.

Really enjoyed the race, great to see the effects of no TC. In the past when one driver was under pressure and hit the throttle a fraction early they'd get a grumble of TC but lost no time. Now they run a fraction wider, possibly a snatch of oversteer..........basically you can see who's under pressure and who's pushing.

It'll be interesting to see how the media play the Lewis vs Kimi story. Lewis is a very amiable guy and he seems to have a great raport with the team and the others drivers. Kimi on the other hand could have a similar relationship but because he lacks PR skills (and/or poor english) comes across as quite cold and disinterested. With Ferrari's reputation for taking "advantage of situations" they could very easily become the anti-heros ;)

Loved DC's outburst! Good on ya lad! :D

Brilliant race, I fell alseep when there were 4 laps remaining but I doubt I missed much. Im not surprised Kimi had engine bother, if you watch the replay Im pretty sure he well and truely over-revved that engine behind the safety car, it actually hurt my ears it screamed that hard. I could be wrong though.

Nice to see Kovalienen and Hamilton getting on well, they seem to haev a good laugh.

That was an awesome race, so much better with out TC, would have posted last night, but virgin cut us of :(.
Great race result. :), roll on next week.

First time I have watched a full race in a long time. Lot better with the driver aids off, you could see Raikkonen fighting the oversteer. Looking forward to the next race

Was an excellent race, you didnt miss much, nah - oh apart from Kovy taking Alonso then accidentally activating the speed limiter on the straight whilst taking a tear off from his visor, lol, allowing Alonso to pass him again.

Managed to stay up all night yesterday with 4 mates and glad i did, was excellent from start to finish and good to see a bit of swearing again from Coulthard.

Looking forward to next week now, hopefully Ferrari can get back on terms as they looked quick but made a couple of uncharacteristic errors.

Great race, great start to the season - DC justifies again why he is worth keeping in F1!

Although ITV weren't pleased when he said
"I'll beat seven shades of **** out of him"
Or something along those lines :), best interview ever, bet they didn't include that in the re-run.

Im gonna kick the (poo) out of that (illegitimate child) :D

They didnt show it on the replay either which was a shame. I hope theres no complaints, doubt it due to anyone being up at that time being a diehard fan, and not worried about the language relating to DC's opinion of Massa.
:p

yep although you could hear it was trying to be said quietly LOL, i believe the words "Little B*****d" were in there as well :D
i think he'll see it differently when he looks at the replay though
all in all an excellent start to the season although not reflective from ferraris point of view, need to see what happens next weekend :)
one things for sure BMW and Williams are certainly gunning for top spot honours
