Logitech G25 Racing Wheel // Anyone got one?

I would just like to correct that point slightly if I may?

If you are into simulation racing games, and can afford the G25, it is an absolute must buy. If you are solely into arcade-style racing games, a G25 would just simply be overkill. Have a look for a second-hand Driving Force Pro (still an exceptionally capable wheel) if you are, as there is simply no need for the extra expense of the G25.

If you read my post you will see the only games i listed are simulation games

Regards what your saying Memphis their is some truth to the matter.
However having owned now 5 steering wheels as my time being a gamer their are certain areas that make the G25 still a product worth splashing out on.

1. Rubber wheels begin to wear and tear after not a lot of usage. The G25 is a hand stitched leather wheel. Comfier and wears a lot better.
2. Its common (X360 wheel for example) for the paddle shifters to creak after some play. Again these are usually only plastic but on the G25 are solid brushed aluminium. Nicer feel / stronger. The same could be said for the pedals.
3. FFB is also greatly improved with the G25 with its TWIN motors, most other wheels only simulate or offer a single FFB motor.

Basically with the G25 your paying generally for much more quality, more wear n tear and will gain more enjoyment from it. Really it gurantees this with all racing games not just sims.
Also and a very important part is what do you tihink i enjoy Sega Rally, DIRT etc more on, my PS3 with G25 or on my X360 with X360 wheel?

Id like to remind people that you wont find very many reviews complaining about the G25 but you will find lots of complaints with other wheel products.
My review on AVF looks into the value more and should help people decide for themselves. Persoonal recommendation is buy at least the old GT wheel (going for approx £60) or the new GT5 Logitech due on the 28th March for approx £90+, id stay clear of anything cheaper tbh.

^ He already has...more plastic which flexes and doesn't last as long. I'm not really into driving games, but I do try and get the best stuff I can, means I enjoy it more.

All very good points Mr Latte :). I guess it depends on the individual user, and how much use they think they will get from the wheel.

You made my day Mr Latte.
You got my point over better than i did.
I have had in the past about six different wheels and the g25 is the best wheel i have had.
In terms of build quality and performance at the price its the best wheel on the market today.

No worries, and thanks, Ian i think as we both know once a few of these guys play GT5P with a G25 they will fully realise its worth every penny. Images to back up really what i was saying.

Just bought a driving force pro wheel for £60. I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as good as the G25, but for less than half the price, i can't say i expected it. Should be plenty better than a dualshock 3 tho.

I'd so buy a G25 for Prologue release only problem is the distance from my desk/tv stand to my bed is too small, I have nowhere to put it. :(

Glad you moved over the the g25 mr latte ;)

I found your comments about the H shift/paddle shifter intersting. The H shifter certainly isn't up to the quality of the other compents, but once you get used to it, it's much nicer than using the paddle shifter - if only on a realisim basis for the appropriate cars.

I use both methods depending on the car I'm using in LFS, and I find the paddle shifter a little bit on the weak side - just a bit of metal that presses two little microswitches on the back of the wheel!

I heard someone describe the g25 as 'the best wheel under 1000 pounds' and I think that is certainly accuarate.

I want your setup! Projector, gaming chair AND G25! So unfair :P

I know, my brother's the same, 1080p PJ, dedicated room, Racing seat frame with G25 and MS wheel, and 2 gaming chairs.. I've spent hours over the last couple of w/e's playing GT5P over there, and coming back to my home office with 360/PS3 is just a bit underwhelming..

Thanks, mind you i dont game on PC anymore tbh havnt tried any of the racing games on PC at all with the wheel. I cant be bothered and my gaming time is limited with running a business. Still i want to enjoy it as much as possible. I am considering selling the frame and having a self designed one made with real proper racing seat.

Is it normal for the G25 to bounce to the other direction, when cornering, then returning to the forward position in a game? Say you turn to 9 o clock then 2 o clock, return to 12 o clock and it pulls to 1 o clock slightly?

In GT5P for example if set to MAX FFB setting (my preference) the wheel will return to centre in a very natural and forcefull way. This is one of the big advantages of the G25 over say the original GT4 GT wheel.

Also if driving with H shift gears and clutch (in GT5P) or indeed sequential you will find that bends like hairpins will really require a firm hold of the wheel with one handed driving.

It really is a great wheel, period

I had a play with the new logitech GT5 wheel today at the show, i thought it was a great wheel, wish they had a g25 there so i could see how much better the G25 is. If the GT5 wheel is approx £100 then i dont think the extra £50 is worth it plus the little wheel to dial in settings could be good in endurance races with varying weather conditions.

This is sort of where I am now. The playseat *almost* does all I want, but ideally I need some way to hang a keyboard from it and so on. And then I think about just getting a 'proper' car seat and setting something up >_>
