Rangers win 3 - 2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw after extra time.

Congratulations to the Rangers for a world record 108 trophies.

If ever i`ve watched a side not deserving to win, it was Rangers today. Dundee Utd outfought and outplayed us yet our grit and no surrender attitude won us the game.

It`s been many years since i`ve saw a Dundee Utd side play so well and wouldn`t have had any complaints had they won.

1 down, 3 to go !

Don't worry about it!! It's not the first time and it won't be the last.

I can assure you though, if the penalty claim happened at the other end it would have been given and the United player would have been sent off as well!!!

And we wonder why everyone thinks Scottish football is mickey mouse!!!

Some amusing ideas there :) Yeah, as the whole of scotland and quite a lot of great britain was watching, a huge conspiracy was taking place to give rangers the CIS cup...

Never a penalty. The boy went down like he had been shot. (Instead of just slapped) :D

Perhaps if he had dispensed with the theatrics, the ref might have been swayed different but nevertheless, never a pen and it takes a good referee to make good decisions.

Dundee united robbed by extremely dodgy decisions by the referee. How that penalty claim was not given is beyond me. My heart goes out to the Arabs, you where robbed lads. :(

Aye thats right just like the retake of the freekick that JCD scored and the offside when JCD was through on the keeper when he was a yard onside. Things balance out over the course of the season so they say. And after watching UTD's penalties they might not have scored it.

Still Utd put up a good fight and its always harsh to lose on penalties but Kerr did shoot them in the foot with his quality Scott Broon9 like backpass.

Actually thought there would have been more of a fall out on this thread, but as it wasnt Celtic we were playing, not too surpised :D Well done to us, although we played very average and boy did we look tired after our escapdes of Thursday night, we showed some fight and got an undeserved Victory.

No doubt we were the lucky winners and Hats off to Dundee Utd who fought and outplayed us most of the match. Penalty, probably yes, but he did hit the deck like a sack of spuds. JCD goal should have stood as already stated these thing even out.

1 down 3 to go :D

Considering the free kick for JCD's 'goal' was at the touch line and it was taken 10 yards further in, I think that'll be why it was disallowed.
The linesmen never did a thing all day though as JCD was onside a couple of times when he was flagged and Utd were never catching him!

I have always said if you can't take penalty's then you'll not win cups, look at England!

99.9% of which are utterly worthless :p Scottish league isn't even second rate. Rangers and Celtic need better competition.

This season, the old firm have beaten Stuttgart, AC Milan, Werder Bremen, Benfica, Lyon, Red Star Belgrade and Shaktar Donekst. Rangers find themselves in the quarter finals of the Uefa Cup.

I`d say that was slightly better than 3rd rate.

Please don`t feel the need to reply btw, those facts mean you should perhaps keep your third rate opinions to yourself.

108 and counting. !

He isnt saying that Rangers and Celtic are third rate - it is the competition within the league that is third rate.

Rangers and Celtic are second rate obviously

But are Guaranteed Champions League each year.

Great result for the Gers, but you have to say Dundee United did deserve to win it on the day.

But being a big Rangers fan I'm glad they didn't :D

Yes they would face better competition in the EPL but they are never going to be allowed to join and they wouldn't be guaranteed Champions League every year, as they are in the SPL.

Strange how (FIFA/UEFA?) they won't allow the two top Scottish teams in the EPL, but and English team Berwick can play in the Scottish League and a welsh team is going to win the English FA Cup again.
