Carn't believe that I'm picking games from the C64.

Elite C64
Revs C64
Nascar Heat PC

I carn't see why it's so hard to make a good space game, I've tried most of them and get bored within the first 20 mins.

this is soooo difficult... i dont think i can pick 3 different games ...
in no order...

WoW (pre TBC) - for me nothing will beat 40 different people with different roles all grouped up with one objective of downing a huge beast! brilliant soundtrack to go along with it! - fantastic interactivity and storyline to quests etc...

C&C - all of them ! - this doesnt really need an explanation, an amazing RTS, one of the best. RA2 i think was the pinicle ....

Starcraft:Brood Wars - possibly THE most balanced game ive EVER played! ive never played a game that requires so much skill... professionally played in South Korea. and its rated as their 2nd national sport - ive had many of year playing this, got quite far in it too, played in a lot of tours, some for money! another pat on the back for blizzard :)

runners up would probably be the Tycoon Serise..Rollercoaster..Transport being at the top!

I used to love space games. Wing commanders were great. Especailly privateer. But the best will always be tie fighter. If only there was a modern equivalent with an amzing multiplayer. Maybe even a MMO. Eve is just way to long winded and hard to get to grips with. i played it for 2 years and never really scratched the surface. Tie fighter was more about actual flying shooting skill. Not clicking on a ship till it explodes. I may have to start playing x3 again and pretend its star wars.

Hmm...

1. Warcraft
2. Warcraft II
3. Warcraft III

:p Seriously, best times I've had have been on those games.

Otherwise,

1. Warcraft I/II/III
2. Red Alert
3. Doom 2
(4. Dungeon Keeper - 3rd was very close between this and Doom 2)

Red Alert 2 so much fun in sp and mp...especially over a lan(includes all other c&c games).

RTCW my first online fps game and wow....it wasnt so much the standard 7min rounds that were so good but the 45min beach map or other custom maps with no time limit.....you could end up having a 7hour battle just refusing to go bed and let the other team win as you never felt they deserved the victory.

Tomb Raider great game at its time and something different too....i never actually completed this game which is a shame....also i never played the pc version..i bought it on playstation ...but it was out for both so i guess it still counts.

A bit surprised number 1. this hasn't come up yet:
1) Darklands (okay, the fully patched and more playable one) - really atmospheric, great character creation, never ending
2) Wasteland/Fallout 1 &2 (just the story, yum)
3) Dune2 (RTS that started it all)

Ill have a stab at this...

1. Elite - unsurpassed legendary title

2. SSI Forgotten Realms & Dragonlance Gold
Box Series RPGS (about 8 games)

3. Wing Commander 3 Heart of the Tiger
Deus Ex

Honourable mentions to.........

Knights of the Old Republic, SWOS, Omkiron: The Nomad Soul, Ultima VI + VII, Planescape Torment, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Dune 2, Starcraft, Championship Manager, F19 Stealth Fighter, Another World, Captive 2: Liberation, Deuteros, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, WINGS, Lords of Midnight, Moonstone, Pirates, Red Storm Rising, Monkey Island 1 + 2, Times of Lore, Little Big Adventure, Elder Scrolls Arena, Sea Dogs, Space Hulk, Day of the Tentacle.

Newish games are good (e.g. Stalker, The Witcher etc) but for me the real Golden Age of games is over.

ive seen planescape torment mentioned a few times....i bought that so many years ago never even escaped the mortuary...nope i didnt really give it a go back then.

but the game has been mentioned a fair few times in so many different threads...so last week i reinstalled it to see if i can get a bit of what i seem to have been missing out on for so many years....

well i escaped the mortuary this time only to see it has not aged well at all...if u didnt fall in love with this game the first time round then dont bother trying several years later.
its been uninstalled forever.

i know my loss...it would be like me recommending c&c Red Alert (one of my all time favourites) to someone who likes rts.....it may still appeal to me as it has memories but i could fully understand if someone else felt it completely sucked.

Red Alert 2 (with Yuri's Revenge)
Half Life 2
GTA SA

nb : i played all the games that came before them in each series

1 Halflife 1 + its mods (cs and tfc ect)
2 WOW, I have not been addcited to a game like this since CS
3 Mafia, the best single player game I've ever played!
