Over there...
Recently bought a Sherco 250 trials bike (Get my road thrills on my RC51, SP-1).

Cracking fun. Problem is it cracked my scaphoid.

ouch what happned lol

messing around riding over a stage, blipped the throttle to jump off a rock, and landed a little too far back on the bike, with throttle on. Cue bike wheel riding up, and dragging me before i had the sense to let go

good fun, but sadly could be out for upto 12 weeks...

the next dougie lampkin in the makin here :)

good luck with the sport my dads family have been riding since the 50s and my grandad still rides his origional 1965 bike.

I possibly have a scaphoid fracture from nearly 2 weeks ago whilst snowboarding. I have to go back to hospital on Monday for a scan.

Heh I read this as "Trials Bike Hit me" and was awaiting loads of abuse to bikers :p

Gutted mate hope you recover quickly!

cheers fellas, not so much dougie lampkin, more fuji Gas (too much throttle)!

interesting cast - yours has the thumb immobilised - a 'scaphoid' plaster, but locally we would just use a conventional 'short-arm' cast for a scaphoid fracture - thumb remains free to wiggle around. seems to lead to a less stiff thumb when you come out of cast in 6-8 weeks time. local ortho preference i assume.

//edit - i need to get out from work more....... :)

no you're absolutely right.

the cast was from google images (couldn't be bothered taking a pic!)

Mine looks similar, but is shorter on the thumb - as you rightly point out :)

ouch, quite a painful one that. I broke my scaphoid falling off my BMX (and ended up with an immobilising thumb cast also). Also broken tailbone, leg, wrist x2 and collarbone. I hate falling off :(

Ouch.. hope that repairs well!...

I started trials riding aged 7, on an old skool Yammy TY80, I had quite a few scrapes and bruises, had this been 'modern day' no doubt my parents would have been carted off by social services for abuse!..

Rocks + Trials Bike + Slight Mistake = Ouch , seems a pretty concrete equation to me..

hehe, wrong choice of words there mate ;)

Indeed, Was more dull thud when I landed on it though!

So are you driving with your cast? I had to drive home from the hospital but parking was a mare. I phoned my insurance company and they said ask the doctor, the doctor said nowt about it

Try moving it for 2 weeks without a cast! That was fun..
