Former Beatle Paul McCartney has been ordered to pay his estranged wife Heather Mills 24.3 million pounds ($52.4 million) after an acrimonious divorce battle.

Nope, but then I tend to not watch the news as 9/10 it's about some jumped up wannabe who happens to know someone who knows someone elses' cats' dinners' mother.

For many years Heather Mills was a selfless woman who did loads for charity and Paul McArtney wanted a piece of her.
During their first years of marriage she selflessly carried on with chariteee work which started to pee Sir Paul off.
He knew what he was getting into and where her heart lay but he selfishly wanted her to stop.

If a woman marries a man in this country and the man has got his own house etc and then the marriage fails she can still get half especially if she has kids.
Why McArtney is seen as a special case is beyond me.
He made a commitment to Heather and part of that commitment would have been for him to put up with her chariteeee work.
Why he is seen as a Saint is worrying.

Mate you are a fool, people live on 16k a year and bring up kids. If she contributed 24 million to Sir Pauls bank acc' by all means she would deserve it. But she's done squat!!

I sincerly hope your future mrs takes you to the cleaners, then all shall become clear for you

I saw that.

On top of the millions she is getting, her child gets £35k/year, so will have to be "b class".
That spoils her PR image a tad. How could one child possibly live on the average wage of most families?

She lost any semblance of respect I had left for her there and then.

I've been with her for 34 years, I certainly don't want another.
Now thats probably made you feel quite small.

When you grow up you'll realise that in this country couples go into marriages together no matter how much they made beforehand.
When they break up its normally the woman who gets the best deal no matter what the husband has done before he married her.
I sincerely hope that all the mates who have been paying their ex wives and being ripped off can now claim something back.
This case should now change the unfair laws that have dogged men for decades.
 
This is a classic thread given that the OP was complaining about the media saturation of this most uninteresting topic, and now everyone's talking about it on here.

No not really.

That aside, your stance seems to have completely shifted. I am aware as are most that laws surrounding custody and divorce are exceptionally unfair in the majority of the western world.

I am completely lost as to how you can say she deserves what she has taken.

Can you please justify to me, to better my understanding, how exactly she is entitled to 24 million.

Remembering at all times she has not contributed to the wealth SPM has built over the decades.

I would go as far to say, you merely don't like SPM so you are just enjoying seeing him lose 24 million. I don't fell either way for him, but just the principle of what has now happened disgusts me.

At the age of 50 I have seen at least 1 out of 3 of my married mates get divorced and their wives take them to the cleaners.
I have many mates who went into the marriage partnership with their own houses so the wife basically contributed to bills.
On some occasions the woman may have stayed at home all day.
Either way when it came to the divorce and settlement the wife always got more than half even though they had put very little into the marriage.
If a normal working class man can have this happen to him then why can't it happen to Saint Paul?
I sincerely hope that men in courts up and down the country can now use the same argument he used "I made that before she was on the scene".
I have not changed my stance, he chased her, he hit it, he married her, he got her pregnant and he should give her half like every man in this country does.
 
dont know much about their marriage but I gotta say I like heather mills, she speaks her mind and doesnt seem to take any ****. McCartney is worth 800 million quid apparently, who cares if she gets 24 mill. Does McCartney actually deserve 800 million quid? Does anyone deserve that kind of dollar?

I have to say I do agree with dmpoole.

Heather Mills still sounded like a muppet when she went on about the flights though, maybe she worded it poorly? ;)
 
Wish I was the judge, I give her as much as was humanly possible, just for having to put up with that irritating wobbly thunderbird head of his.

I think thats her main problem.
When she talks I don't think the correct words come out of her mouth and she instead puts her foot in it.
I have total empathy for her but she never puts it over the correct way.

It's not life in this case, the courts have decided otherwise. There's no reason for her to suffer financially, and she wont. Are you suggesting that his child doesn't deserve access to his money?

I wasn't aware their daughter had a right to go to a £20k a year school. ;)
