WarHammer online or Conan?

Okay - was most looking forward to Conan as it looks awesome and sounds great. I also had one eye on WarHammer online as well. However I thought that warhammer was out 2009 so the idea was to play Conan until then and switch if the mood took me when WarHammer came out.

However I look online today and see that they are both out within days of each other. Now I know that the May release of Conan is pretty much a dead cert, however how certain is the WarHammer release date of the 6th June?

People in the know - do you know?

And also what do ya think - I never play two MMO's at the same time.

I know this is not one of life's dilemmas which I should give loads of time, but peoples opinions would be interesting.
 
Mythic announced today that they won't have official forums, due to people complaining. Not a good sign Vanguard did the exact same thing to prevent bad press to newcomers to the game.

The reports of how bad the game actually is seem more and more common to me, can't ignore a flood.

I've never been a big Warhammer fan, but that game is literally "WoW2" same graphics, same factions, same PvP, same skill system. Sure there's some dry pasta stuck on with pva glue but that won't help.

I can see it either failing badly, getting delayed another year or 2 or being 'ok'. By that time the games already outdated graphics will be dire.

While the combat system in AoC is not revolutionary, it is damn good, you're involved in the game and actually have to play the game rather than pressing the same 3 buttons and auto-attacking. The graphics are superb, as a the devs, community and community representatives. The coverage of the game from all shows and events is excellent.

I was hoping for a simultaneous release, that way most of the oh-so-excitable pre-teens from WoW may have gone to Warhammer, leaving the M-Rated AoC fairly unscathed. But as Warhammer seems to have disappeared off my map completely, I can't see that happening.

I'll be going for Age of Conan, with full Dx10 it looks immense, even in Dx9. The combat system, M-Rating, adult communities, siege warfare and graphics make it a win for me.

I originally thought war but after finding out a bit more am probably going to go for conan. Everything seems better - graphics/single player even pvp if it turns out like they say. That's my only concern atm as it's not in the beta yet and that's a lot to test before may.

It's been in beta for well over a year.

If you mean open beta, that will come in may, around 1-2 week before release, and will still be selective.

afaik Warhammer was taken out of beta for "being too **** and untestable" not sure if they're back in beta now.

Oh dear - that does not sound good. People complaining about what? Bugs, server issues, balance issues etc etc - well isn't that what betas are for? Or are we talking about the kind of problems that shouldn't even be in a beta?

I guess this is from the WH beta - Any links to where the people are voicing their experiences?

Also, I seem to remember reading somewhere that conan was in beta? True or not; anyone here play?

No specific links, just what I seem to be hearing from everyone, as it'll be under NDA and is currently out of beta (afaik) it'll be hard to get into any real info.

What, the siege battles are in beta atm! I thought I'd read somewhere they weren't but obviously that was wrong.

One more for AoC. I played WoW for a while and WAR just seems to be like WoW2 to me, as someone else said above also.
I want something new from an MMO. AoC's combat system looks to be what I'm after.

Im begining to think the same things about warhammer, doubting its inevitable release im swaying to conan, the PVP looks good, their casters look Godlike, PVP system is the main reason i play MMORPG and it looks ace. and hopefully we will see blood, flesh, guts and heads on pikes ;)

Based on it having an M-rating, I'll put good money on there being vastly more immature idiots in AoC than in WAR. AoC has boobs and drinking, how could it not be honey to the flies of the Great Unwashed?
 
Conan doesnt interest me at all, WAR (when finished) seems to be the much more involved and pvp based game. It seems that all comments on WAR are based on non-beta player opinions which is amusing.

fair play - but that will be twenty quid a month for the first few. Not massively expensive, but I try to avoid such situations. However, might need to in this case.

Oh dear, your slating a game that you appear to not know a great deal about, this game's beta has been open since it was launched with only a short period of closure late last year, the beta is still open and up and running as we speak.

And as for the comment that this is WOW2...... pffff thats the biggest pile of crap I've ever read, its nothing like WOW!!!!

For a start, we know very little about the game (as you are right about the NDA being in place) so how this can be compared to anything at this point is beyond me..... however from what we do know this game is nothing like WOW at all, if anything its mould has been cast from DAoC.

The UI looks similar to WOW and the way the camera follows your guy from behind is similar...... but thats a very generic MMO template, with your toolbars on the screen etc etc.

Anyway I'll finish up by saying that IMO Warhammer is going to be the better game by far...... 600k+ beta applicants is a failry decent sign of that but each to their own etc etc, if your genuinly interested though, I'd be reading up and checking the game out for myself instead of getting what could be very biased opinions, theres plenty of developer videos etc out there which will give you a decent insight into what they are acheiving with this game..... so go check them out!
