he then buys a card 10 quid more expensive.
Its clear from this his budget its not that rigid.
Hence my post.

I thought that gains of the GTS aren't worth £24 extra though?
They weren't when the GTS was 190.
The cooler alone is worth the extra for 24 never mind the extra SP's.

Yeah, I went for the 8800GTS over the 8800GT mainly because of the cooler (case is small, airflow is tight, and need head vented out the back of my case). How many people here buy a 8800GT only to slap on a £15 Accelero S1 cooler and maybe more money on a fan to put on it if you don't have one lying around.
The 8800GTS is an excellent choice for that price.

Your being harsh, the gts 512 is new and imo now the best value to performance card out there. a lot of people don't even know about it or the fact its price is so competitive.
