Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Any pc FPS gamers in here who have successfully transferred across to the console/pad controls?? If there is anyone want to give me some tips. Really wanna get into FPS on PS3 but just can't seem to get to grips with it

Practice. It's easier on Xbox360 due to the pad than PS3 and I still struggle with the PS3 when I go back to it, but as with anything, practice makes perfect.

I still cannot get on with FPS games on a pad. Having played competive PC gaming for so many years (at a fairly high standard if I am going to blow my own trumpet a bit :p) I just cannot help but think "I would have killed him if this had been on PC"

I wouldn't say i've played to a huge standard but I have played FPS on the pc for 10 years only come over to consoles mainly because pc games make me feel sick and disorintatetd (however you spell it) :( also though because of the price of pc hardware is getting silly IMO of course.

Besides i'm liking console gaming more and more all the time. If I can just crack FPS on a pad i'll be happy a s apig in **** :D

Looks like I'm going to have to get a copy from the high street and return the warehouse copy when (if) it turns up. No sign of it being shipped yet :(.

Better to buy Xbox 360 version of Rainbow Six Vegas 2?

One site has compared the 360 and PS3 versions of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, to see which version those who own both consoles should buy. The Xbox 360 version apparently wins on graphics with a smoother rate, the current lack of rumble in the PS3 version also gives the Xbox 360 the edge in gameplay. The Xbox 360 also has the advantages in multiplayer with 16 players online, whereas the PS3 game only supports 14. They recommend that the if you have the choice you should pick up the Xbox 360 version as it has the benefits of the points above, Xbox 360 Achievements and an all-round better online service in Xbox LIVE.

I'm looking forward to this but as a long time rainbow six fan this feels more "disposable". I think a lot more effort will go into Rainbow Six 4. I can't wait to travel the world again and have a multiplayer game that lasts years.. or are those days gone!? lol

Edit: Also does anyone hate the idea or leveling on games such as theses. Especially for multi-player everyone should be on an even footing and it should all be 100% about skill and tactics!

Long time MP games are done, they are released far to often and in far too high quality. The good games are released pretty much every 18 months or so. Too much money in sequels. There are also so many good MP games that the community moves about.

I'm not a huge fan of levelling up, as when I finally got into MP on R6V1 I was too far behind. COD4 was good because it resets and from time to time the good players had naff weapons.

My GF is going to pick this up for me today (as long as they are true to their word on selling it today)

So should be online tonight (after Chelsea game and cooking)

I got into R6V quite late as well, and I didn't like playing with randoms. Hopefully we can get some good OcUK games going :)

OcUK team?
Following the success of the tournament we had for the first Rainbow Six Vegas we have decided that what better way to kick off a series of tournaments than with one celebrating the release of on of the most anticipated gaming sequals.

Signups are now open and will close on Sunday March 30th at 16:00 GMT with the brackets for round 1 being announced at 20:000 (GMT) the very same day.

The battle will then commence on Wednesday 2nd April at 19:00 (GMT) as 32 teams battle to become the ShopTo Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Champions and earn a place in the ShopTo tournament record book.

More in depth details on the rules and regulations can be found below and if you have any further questions, please ask either here or email me direct ([email protected]) with the title RSV2 Tournament Enquiry.

Now, what would be the point in having a tournament without prizes?, I hear you ask, well do not fear.

The winning team of the tournament will take away a grand prize of £1000 with the runners up taking a total of £250 and third place taking £125.

The tournament will finish on Wednesday 23rd April which is well within time for you all to get prepared for the release of Grand Theft Auto IV which is released 6 days after.

Once the team limit has been reached the registrations will be stopped so get them registrations in quick before all the spots go.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scoring Method and Match Setup
* 5 vs 5.
* Best of 5 Rounds.
* Maps are to be randomly selected by the host.
* Team Survival.
* 5 minute round time.
* Friendly fire will be on.
* Chat set to alive only.
* Weapon limitations: GPS, C4, auto-shotgun, motion sensor.
* Spawn points will be randomly selected by host and will be switched after each round.
* In the event of 3 draws in a row, the next round will be awarded as a win (3 points) based on headcount.
* If a match starts too late (to be determined by the moderator), the above rule may be changed temporarily to 2 draws in a row.
* If a player disconnects, they may only rejoin after the current round has finished.
* The matches will be hosted by an admin, who will drop a grenade at their feet at the start of each round. This is how we will eliminate host advantage and get a chance to check for any cheaters, clitching or unfair playing.
* Check the match fixtures for who your host will be.

I too should be picking up my copy tonight but feel that I wont be able to rinse it till the weekend. Definately should get some OcUK games going.

I too have played competitively on the PC for many many years, when I got my 360 I was really awful with the pad, so I played through CoD2 on Veteran and it helped me out a lot. When playing MP games, without a doubt that a mouse and keyboard player would wipe the floor against someone using a pad, but at the end of the day, the good thing with consoles is, everyone has a pad and its a level playing field. I am now getting better with the pad, and can hold my own in games of CoD4, something which a year or so ago I wouldn't have been able to do.

i played the first level last night at my friends house [early copy because she works in a game shop] and i am really impressed

its not THAT different to vegas 1 but it is noticable

Another thing I struggle with, is being about 8 ft from the TV, rather than being so close to a PC monitor, I find it harder to see people, even though the TV is 32".

I might get a gaming bean bag that I can use when I want to sit closer to the TV :)
