I dont get this... the D60 is going for under 400 quid in some places, when it originally hit the scene less than a couple of weeks ago for about 500 quid!!!

That shop in Heathrow has them for 450, and that was cheap on day 1.
But now it seems it can be had for almost the same price as what the D40Xs were!

Can anyone clarify?

Just picked up a second-hand one together with 100-300mm and 28-105mm Sigma lens for £350. Looks like I got a reasonable deal then.

Ok I agree that prices would drop.

But this thing has been out for less than a few weeks. And its already down by more than 100 quid!

Just seems puzzling for me. Is this how it is in the photography world?

alexisonfire - The D40x was going for around 399 with a lens.
You reckon the D60 will go for even less??????

But the 40D has been out a good few months no?
Is that the body only?

Just the body, still an amazing price though. I got mine from hong kong for £620 with a 3 yr warranty, 5 weeks ago, the uk price then was £680 ish without cashback.

When a new camera is launched it generally sells for RRP (or just below) for a month, then the price drops start kicking in.
Higher end camera usually have waiting lists so the higher prices hold for longer.
