new camera for daughter

Hi all, my daughter is 17 soon and would like to have a SLR camera as a present. she does not know much about photography but would like to do a course, to teach her the basics etc.. She could upgrade later. Please recommend a camera for about £250 or is that impossible? Thanks for any help.

Spend a little more and you'll get the same as me, a 400D plus kit lens refurbished from Canon.

I don't think you'll get anything new for £250 and at least with a refurb it's barely been used and has a warranty.

I dont know if you can get the 350d new anymore but i would suggest that or the nikon D40(X) they are both really good cameras and not too hard to get to grips with.

I have seen new 350Ds on the auction site for £250 delivered, cheapest I have seen a D40x is £300.

Yeah I seen some 350d's for about £250 with kit lens.
