I was just hunting around, trying to find a legit source for a Vista DVD with SP1 integrated.

Found this on technet

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2807897&SiteID=17

Sounds legit, the link to the iso is from the Microsoft site.
Could be handy if needing to install Vista.

I'm downloading it now, just over a gig.

Anybody else tried this image?

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...86ea0a6a/6001.18000.080118-1840-kb3aik_en.iso

The filename says 6001.18000 which are the same version numbers I have here after getting SP1 from Windows Update, so guess it's the proper, final, SP1 built in.

Sounds like you want an ISO of Vista with SP1 already; that's not what that file is. Should be more than 4GB if it had the full OS there.

Yes, that is what I was after.
Is the Vista DVD >4gb? Blimey! I never checked.

Damn, I guess I didn't read the page properly, and clicked in haste ;)

that first link is the WAIK, it's a deployment tool for vista/2008, it's not the os

the only way a home user is going to get an SP1 vista disc is by borrowing one, or downloading one from a torrent / usenet

SP1 is not slipstreamable, so msfn can't help i'm afraid :(

I can link to a download for an ISO with SP1 integrated (x86) that I pulled from MSDN but I dont know if it breaks forums rules. Someone let me know.

If they are available on MSDN I shall have another look another time.
I don't need it right now, but if I come to install Vista on a machine for somebody, and can do it from a disk with SP1 already on it, that would save a lot of time.

Thanks for the heads up about the first link not being what I was after, I've cancelled the download now.

But yes, if anybody can link to a legit Microsoft source for Vista x86/x64 with SP1 integrated, it would be very much appreciated.

All legit of course, I'd be using customer keys, it's simply to save me having to install Vista, and then Sp1 afterwards... which does take while ;)

Many thanks,

would deffo break the rules mate

Is it illegal to post that?

I'm not after dodgy serials, or installs.
Just an install ISO, with SP1 integrated, to use with legit keys, simply to save having to install Vista and then SP1 afterwards.

OK, found that with google, thanks.
I only see the 32bit version there, so shall hold off until I can get 64bit.

Certainly does exist as I said a few posts up. Been running it for a few weeks now without any issues. Always like slipstreaming Service Packs when doing a fresh install, just feels better to me :P

You didnt find MY link with google did you? Hard to say I guess on the forums but I hope google isnt cataloging my domain

No mate, I doubt it, but I did find a link via softpedia which seemed to be what you were talking about.

Not by us mortals perhaps, but MS can do it

I know because I have an MSDN account and downloaded Vista with SP1 intergrated only a few weeks ago and installed on my test PC right now. So it does exist.

I guess I don't really understand why these aren't just freely available at the Microsoft site, unless it's simply a matter of bandwidth.

Nice to know that they exist though... was it a 64bit one that you got hold of?

I'll have a proper search around MSDN when I have more time.

It's not available to the public for download, you have to have a paid account. It would be silly of MS to provide their OS's for free download.

I daresay it's on a torrent site near you however!

You can download either the x86 or x64 DVD. I'm using x64.

i never said it doesn't, i just said home users currently cannot get it

saying 'home' i exclude non msdn account holders

the ms sp1 iso's have been available for a while, we all know this, through ms and on 'dodgy' sources as i said above

30 days, but you could still reactivate it or potentially crack it

ms would be stupid to put these up

hell, i'd happily reinstall every 29 days, i keep all my programs on 2nd partition anyway
