New video of "BigDog Quadruped" AT-AT project.

Indeed. How it intelligently finds it's balance is the thing that "gets" me the most.

AFAIR, a highspeed reactive ZMP controller. It probably also has kind of vertical behavior decomposition to allow high-level predictive and planned response to better cope with the rough terrain and slope angle.

Code:
if not exist floor goto panic

:panic
move legs fast as #### until floor exists

:end

that's the only programming that went into that thing

Why should it be faked? US personal do need to carry lots of equipment, I guess this is just a replacement for a pony.

Typical American Gov't, they spent £1000's developing a pen to work in zero mavity for the Apollo missions - the Russians used a pencil!

Yanks not got Mules & Donkeys (apart from those in the White House) then? :p

Been following this for a while now, still not reduced the noise on it :/ & I think it should leave the climbing to humans, quite impressive to see it jump though

i've read that's untrue, and that a normal pens works just fine, and a pencil would be dangerous as you'd have tiny bits of lead floating around, which could short out electronics!

!

^ No wonder Russian Technology goes wrong; maybe someone should point that out to them :D

hmm 350lbs of C4 ... now the US has their own suicide bomber quadraped! (pop!)

350lbs is 158kg.. So that could be a light ordnance platform such as a light weapons system, radar or actually carry injured troops as it stands now. Needs to be more agile though for speed.

Its reaction when walking on the ice was just .... mindboggling.:eek::eek:

I can't even begin to fathom the level of research, programming and engineering expertise required to pull off something like that.
