Lowest price in the UK - OcUK GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 @ £352.49 Inc. VAT!!

I would agree that the GX2 and also the 3870X2 puts you at the mercy of the respective driver teams which puts me off as well. I've read some of the reviews though and the GX2 exhibits fantastic performance in a lot of titles - when fully supported that is.

Im waiting for a true next-gen single gpu card so at least we can agree on something.

Indeed we do, even with my current card the drivers aren’t perfect, to this day I still find myself pressing the auto tune button knowing full well that it’s going to crash my machine...

haha fair play easyrider :) I’ll let you part with £360 :p I can't even remember why I got involved with this, I’m normally more of a reader than a writer but something somebody said, for some reason got my back up... Now I've started digging that hole and just don't feel like stopping, I’m going to carry on digging, chatting **** and generally confusing myself and everybody around me, is that OK?

360 is hardly a lot of money.

So whats you point again?

At least if your trying to sound clever make it an amusing read...

All you have done up to now is state that others have bad command over

the english language, are institutionailsed and they talk Gibberish:confused:

how do i fit one of these with a corsair 520w ?

Finally 600W minimum for PSU and 700W+ is recommended.

Hello Santo, the Nvidia 9800GX2 will actually run absolutely fine on Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU.

Now I believe the reason that Nvidia and ATI recommend a fairly high wattage power supply for their top end products is to basically cover their selves. For example, if someone that isn't particularly in the know with what is what in regards to hardware and wishes to purchase the Nvidia 9800GX2 because it is big and shiny, it is very likely that they will also buy a very sub-standard power supply to run their new card. If this is the case, a 500 wattage sub-standard power supply may have some problems running the Nvidia 9800GX2 as opposed to a 600 – 700 wattage power supply which should run the Nvidia 9800GX2 fine. All though, I certainly wouldn't want to run any kind of system of any cheap power supply. :)

Its a good price and is cheaper than the GTX was on release. There is a general dislike of top end components in the forum. If you buy a top end product the pound for the buck brigade will come to comment on how foollish you've been because of your choice.

At the end of the day if i had the cash i would go for 2 cards, 4 SSD drive's and a 30" NEC screen. Foolish if bought on credit but if loaded the only thing bigger than my epenis would be the grin on my face

my 2 centss

or wait for the manufacturers to supply third party coolers, although that doesn't tend to happen much now. Down to cost I suppose. These are still expensive card no matter how you look at it. Supplying a non-stock cooler would only increase the price. Shame really.

A third party cooler that pushes air outside the case would cause this card to take up three slots though.

Since the 9800GX2 is actually using a second slot for it's connectors (DVI/HDMI), you'd have to use a third slot for an exhaust fan. I'm not sure many would be keen on that to be honest.

Similar view here really.
One mans £10 is another mans £100. One mans £200 is another mans £400.

People will moan about the price, but nVidia and ATI are quite obviously selling these at asking otherwise the RRP wouldn't be so high everytime a new series of cards is released.

It's not often I buy something at launch, but when I do I'm normally chuffed to bits.

Otherwise, I'm prepared to wait until £100 or so comes off the price - but normally by that time, there's something else out there that costs £400 and the loop continues.

If you have the money for it, then who gives a hoot it's your money and you are free to spend it however you wish.

Yeah its not the cheapest in the UK, Gibbo's been owned. :D

Id edit out those competitor prices hernaldo, as theres no quoting of competitor prices allowed.

lol well I'll be damned, OCUK are selling it for a massive £3 more than you found it, this for a brand new card only 2 days after launch, a full £80-£90 cheaper than RRP for a same spec but "branded" card, yet you say they should do more research

They have to draw the line somewhere, and surely thats short of having 10 staff trolling every competitor site for an afternoon.....................

Meanwhile alternatively they can start a thread like this, thats as near as dammit as close to what anyone would expect at this time
