A long overdue update on this mission...
After much pulling out of hair, it came down to either an Iiyama PLE2201W-B1 (22")or the PLE2403WS-B1 (24"), as these two models in the Iiyama range have the best image ghosting and input lag criteria as a gaming monitor (strangely, the flagship PLB2403W model was not so hot in either category, but maybe they focused on an office market)...
I finally decided on the 22" PLE2201W-B1, as it alledgedly has 0ms input lag and it alledgedly has practically no ghosting. The 24" was close, but I chose to make my transition to LCD from my beloved Iiyama Vision Master Pro 451 CRT as painless as possible.
I will lose out on full HD and 1:1 pixel mapping, but at least I know my currently single 8800GTS 512MB will cruise in the native 1680x1050, plus the gaming experience should be about as good as it gets.
On a downside, there was a mispick at the competitor's warehouse, resulting in me receiving the B2 variant this morning instead of the B1! Consequently, the monitor went back in its box ready for collection by their courier tomorrow, before I got to try out my new toy... I was tempted to see what it was like, but I'm worried about scratching the bezel on a return!
The B2 variant does suffer the typical TN panel ghosting and alledgedly has around 30ms input lag, hence the RMA/swap request.
Oh well, so much for having a nice monitor in time for the Easter weekend, but c'est la vie... Roll on next week!
