Lowest price in the UK - OcUK GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 @ £352.49 Inc. VAT!!

To the general public it is the cheapest BUY now price. I don't think that the OcUK staff have time to check all these discount offers and alternative methods of getting it cheaper.

OcUK offer the cheapest retail price.

An example of what you are saying:
"I work for a company and don't pay VAT so I get it for £305 delivered soo naaaah, I got one up on the OcUK staff and got it cheaper than there buy now price"

grow up.

No, the other place is the cheapest buy now retailer!

The 5% student discount\cashback offer they run is purely a seperate thing. Anybody can get it at that price.

Look sorry I shouldn't have posted it, maybe that was a little silly, but what I actually said was 100% true and right. I'll say no more.

360 is hardly a lot of money.

This really does miss the point. Where exactly are these cards on sale (not pre order as we are talking about early adopters here) for 360 ?

The cheapest one for sale on the Overclockers site is 434.74+delivery. I think this is the sort of crazy price the early adopters were paying that was being discussed.

Now, it may not seem a lot of money to you and good luck to you but it is for many people, especially when you consider this is only ONE component in a gaming PC. Compare the total cost of a top spec rig to any of the leading consoles and perhaps one of the major reasons PC gaming is in decline starts to become apparent.

There is an excellent piece on this very subject in the conclusion of the GX2 review on 3D Guru. I found the views expressed there quite interesting.

Unless Nvidia and ATI can produce top spec cards for much less than this then the PC gaming market may well shrink even further as folks turn to cheaper alternatives to get their games fix.

Of course there may be many like your good self who have the spare cash to accomodate this sort of outlay to play games but if the general trend is for continued decline in PC gaming then you're going to be sitting there with a stonking machine and nothing to play on it

You have to also consider the OCUK card has only 1yr warranty......£350 and 12 months later you might be Mr Angry...lol

still a good price tho.

If the price of top end pc is the reason pc gaming is on the fall then it has been from the start as the price of a top spec pc has always been high. Its the way it is. With GC like the 8800 gt and 3870 range you getting top quality commponets at good prices, with performace better than the consoles. You are not forced to selection of 3 machines.
you forget to mention that the overall quality of games has gone down, nothing to do with GC prices

this is an ENTHUSIASTS forums, and there spending £350+ on a component that will come to good use and entertainment seems superb. this is your hobby.

why not go to the photograhpy section and start screwing at them for buying £1000 SLRs when you can get a 8MP camera for like £100.....

Well the 1 year warranty is good since most of the people buying these kind of cards will obviously also get the next generation of either ATI/Nvidia card which is less than one year away and the card will be either sold for a cheap price or sit in a secondary PC than you never use for gaming :D
Very nice price. Thought it would be a bit more expensive. My 3850 will have to suffice until the next-gen cards are out.

These cards are not the cheapest in th UK and their not even in stock. Plenty of competitors are selling them in stock for £299 delivered.

Bull ****, maybe in your fantasy land you can get them for that price, not in the real world though.

Please fully star out any swearing
