vostro 1000 making popping noises

ok i just got my vostro 1000 today,and when i play music it produces random popping noises that are clearly audioble and makes listien to music annoying,does anyone know if there is a software fix for this (vista basic sp1),or do i need to phone dell up and order a replacement? :mad:

is this through the speakers or the headphone jack?

I have had a vostro 1000 for about 5 months and have never had popping noises, i'd speak to dell.
