... If you need to be over 18 to fly to outside the EU? Me and the misses are thinking of going to new york, but not sure if you need to be over 18? As we are both 17! Tried google, no luck!

Uh.....no. Unless you plan on actually flying the aircraft, you don't need to be 18.
 
You can be any age to fly. if you under a certain age (very young) you can get on a plane if there is someone to put you on the plane and someone to take you off at the other end.
 
If you're under 18 there's a greater likelihood that your head will burst due to pressurisation during long-haul flights.

Formula:

<18 = head will burst
>18 = head will not burst
 
Are you northern?

i suggest that you also do some research before you go, as it would appear you don't have much travel experience.
 
What do you need to know about new york, that can't be learned here ;)

If he gets in trouble he can punch them in the ovaries or nuke them from orbit!
