Firefox 3 Beta 4, opinions?

Hello Tolien

I have just downloaded the portable version of beta 4 to try as i have never used it before, can i install my extensions as normal on the portable version so i can try and get it to how i have Fx2 now ?

Tony

Portable browser... if its for a mobile phone nothing beats opera mini or mobile. check them out

not sure if it's the same for Windows users, as I'm using Ubuntu, but the option to 'manage bookmarks' is no longer there in beta4.. any ideas as to how I import my saved bookmarks?

Bookmarks -> "Show all Bookmarks..."
The Places organizer/Library/Bookmarks and History Organizer has an import option.

I don't have an error console. I'll just carry on with 2 until the finished product is released. I do like the look of it though.

Take a look at this.

Mine worked fine for a while but then the scroll bar kept jumping by itself  Anyone else experienced that problem?

Been using it for a few days now and that has happened loads of times, page seems to want to scroll up randomly and I end up having to refresh the page. Also adblockplus has stopped working properly and ff won't open in a sandbox.

The "home" and "go" buttons seem to have dissapeared also.

AB+ has always been pretty iffy - there's dev versions of it, but your mileage may vary. What exactly is broken in beta 4?

Home button's moved into the Bookmarks Toolbar (and shouldn't move if you don't have the toolbar), though you can drag it back. In Beta 5 that's been undone.
The Go button only appears when you edit the address bar.

Never seen the random jumping though - try a new profile/safe mode, though you should've created a new profile for Fx3 anyway...

When you tell it to block an image it brings up the add filter dialogue but leaves it blank. So you have to manually copy and paste every url you want to block.

what you can do is right cilck ad block image, it has the line add filter with a "+". CLick the "+" so it opens the prompt to type. then right cilck add block image again, and it copies the URL automatically.

Lil pain the back side but i can live with it for now. fix the addons!

Just found out I can't log into online banking either. I think I'll leave ff3 alone for a while lol. Trailers on the apple website just don't appear as well.

Same bank as mick4545 above?

No rbs.
Got the quicktime plugin installed into Fx3? Should show up in the addons tab in Tools -> Addons.

Yes, quicktime videos from some other websites work fine.

Whats also annoying is the new download manager, when you want to clear the list you have to right click and select it, whereas you used to be able to just click the clear button. And the new manager looks like it's from windows 98, ugh.

I guess it could be the same issue - I posted a link before with a suggested fix.

The trailers work for me, with QuickTime plugin 7.4.1 on yesterday's nightly build, so it's either something peculiar to your setup (try a new profile, as I suggested before?) or a bug that's been fixed since Beta 4.

So far I've only used it briefly. Facebook for example seems to not like Opera too much, probably poor coding (Facebook, not Opera). So I've been using FF for that website and it's good. Seems fast and slick. I don't know if it's enough to tear me away frm Opera though... I just love the "Speed Dial" on Opera as it's soooooo convenient.

I've just started using this and it does appear a bit faster than FF2 and uses less system resources as well.

My only gripe is the lack of decent themes at the moment, with most but the official theme, the tabs seem to blend into one, which looks odd and the google bar is mucked up.

I see that still have not fixed the "back" bug, by not taking you back to the part of the pervious website you was on...
