Anyone else having trouble getting hold of bits you would think would be simple? Starting to really get on my wick now!! When I don't need, there is a surplus of bits, when I do I seem to stand more chance of plaiting diahorrea.

On reliable cars it's about 10 years after they go out of production, however on french cars ....

wrong clio, his clios bonnet couldnt open on the motorway if there was someon inside pushing it it opens the other way

I'd expect it's when they can't sell them in profitable quantities.

Nah, it gets better when you hook up with fellow owners and get word of mouth sources for bits, and people who will help you out for the fun of it...not just a recommendation to take it to the dealer...

I can still get most engine and suspension parts for my Anglia in the local motorfactors - amazing really since you never see them on the road and the car is coming up to 45 years old. It shares very little with the later RWD Fords. It's all re-pops from Quinton Hazel though, not Ford parts.
