The thread might be pointless to some of you but i was asking to be educated as to some of the bands around right now that may be to 'my' taste. This is because i've had my head in the sand for too long lol. If you find it pointless, don't post, is simple as.

For those who have suggested bands, thank you. I haven't heard of most of them and i'm now off to look them up. You never know, you may be responsible for my new favourite band.

I'd say you want something written in Cmin which then progresses to the relative major and then back again to create a basic binary form song, which I hear is all the rage nowadays.

Modern 'proper' bands is a silly category. There are none which exist, depending of course, on how much cant you are willing to subject yourself to. Modern as in the last 24months? Or Modern as in 20th century and so on?

Basic band, not trying to be trendy just writing songs and playing music. Interpret that however you want and then name a band, that would probably be more useful than your post above.
