I've decided it's time to upgrade my X1900 which I skimped on a year and a half ago when I built my current machine.

After reading some reviews I've concluded (unless convinced otherwise) that there's little point shelling out for a 9800 GX2 (lol 2xGTS zzzzz), so I went about looking around for 8800s.
What the hell happened to the 8800 ultra? No-one seems to sell them.... did they flop?
What the hell happened to stock watercooled cards?? BFG still lists the specs for all their 8800 watercooled versions but the only one available from the BFG store is the GTS... I could swear OCuK had them aswell a while back.

What do I do here? GTX seems to be the way to go, but the new version of the GTS is impressive... /confused

A little info:
I don't want to go SLI as yet as my motherboard is Xfire and I'm not interested in replacing it as yet.
I have a ridiculously powerful watercooling system in place, so any card I get will end up watercooled. Preferably I'd want a card with stock watercooling so I stay inside the warranty but it'll get a block stuck on it either way.

Edit: 1600x1200 ;)

Cheers

the 8800 ultra you could say flopped in some sense, as people eventually worked out the performance difference between the 8800GTX and 8800Ultra wasnt really worth the price premium.

as for what graphics card to get, i say get a 8800GTX, its better then the 8800GTS at the higher resolutions

Wait a week or so to see how the 9800GTX fairs

Sounds like a sensible idea; a few questions:
Does anyone know what the RRP is likely to be?
A bit of speculation - I know this card has been due for release for ages - will it ACTUALLY be released at the beginning of April?
It used to be the case that when a new technology came out the older one got cheaper - is the 8800GTX likely to suddenly drop in price when the 9800GTX comes out?

I have been reading (if my maths are right), in the UK you will be looking at £220 for a reference clocked 9800GTX. But again, dont bother.

Overclockers still have (I think) a few XFX 8800GTX's, so, if you are running at a high resolution, I would go for that. Same price as well.

£220 for a 9800GTX makes it basically the same price as the 8800GTX.... isn't it supposed to be massively better?
