**** The Lian Li V1000Z ****

I've got the V-1000 and have done a few modifications to it which would not be possible in the V-1000Z. The only good thing about this case is that the orientation of the mobo is no longer upside down however i've been using the A8N32-SLI mobo with passive cooling for a few years and never had any overheating problems. The right way round mobo changes the layout of the back of the case and in the V-1000Z it will not be possible to mount a double radiator at the back of the case without obstructing the PCI slots. I've got a custom made vibration dampening HDD rack which wouldn't really work with the hot swap PCB unless the PCG can be disingaged from the case. My side window does not shows the lower compartment where all the untidy cables are hidden. The big window reveals too much.

i know this is off topic but Day03, could you email me or catch me on msn, in regards to your hdd dampening? Got sick and tired of the case whirring in time to my hdd's :)
 
Here are a couple of pics of the modded cage. I've used the existing cage, just removed the plastic rails and bolted on some metal wings to which i've glued very soft silicone gels. The gels are cut from some shoe insoles.

How are the drives attach, or are they just resting ?

Looks good if the drives are secure though :)
 
looks great but its not enough to justify an upgrade from my 2 month old v1000plus

can someone pm a link as to where i can get the mesh fronted bays (silver) as cheap as poss i've only found one place selling them so far
 
Been waiting for the v1000z for about a month or so now. Gonna replace my old Lian Li case.

I'm guessing this case should be able to house some of the longer graphics cards out there since the HDD bay is in the lower section?

My current one only just house's my 3870, and no doubt the newer cards will only continue to get longer?.....
 
pretty sure theres a allready a deepened version of the v1000plus (iirc called v1200plus) to allow for extra big graphics cards, although a few extra centimetres would be quite useful on the standard layout
