Resident Evil 4 (wii or ps3/ps2)

I've got both versions, and all the resident evils bar 3 (which was a bit pants). i just think the the quick aiming takes a little of the tension away from the game.
Struggling to get a bead on someone when under pressure is one of the best jumps in the game.

It's a bit weird, I 'spose, that you feel that way really as a control limitation is something I'm sure any developer and gamer would like to take out. However, I agree that battling with the controls (particularly in Code Veronica) is a very tense (albeit really a flaw) part of the game.

If I can get £20 for my Gamecube version, I think I'll grab the Wii version.

Is it worth me getting rid of the Gamecube version and picking up a Wii copy? I heard that the Gamecube version fetches a fair few quid still.

I would. The extra content, progressive (480p) wide screen, sharper visuals and better aiming system make it worthwhile.

I don't believe that at all though, luckily there are no stats to prove otherwise ;)
Well i know 6 people who have played it, and of that 6, the 2 that played the GC version then the Wii version prefered the GC version, and the 4 that played Wii first, prefered the Wii.
Obviously not a large enough number of people to make a sweeping statement, but i feel thats a good enough indicator to use in a statement.

It's more that the problem with the Wii version is that they didn't really tinker with the gameplay to make up for it's easier control system. The game was designed with a controller in mind, so things like enemies popping up to your side are a lot harder to deal with using a GC pad, whereas they become easy as pie to pick off with a remote. With a remote, it's also just so much easier to headshot nearly every enemy, making it far quicker to take down groups.

Ahh right, gotcha.

I've got both the GC and Wii version and by far prefer the Wii version. Never got out the village on the Cube version and have actually completed the wii version twice as I love it that much. Considering I've not completed a game since Street Fighter 2 first came out as modern games usually bore me I think thats a pretty good indicator! :D

What about the content they had to cut from the GC version that was put into the PS2 and Wii versions?

While it always good to get more nothing left out of the Gamecube version that really detracted for the game. The reason to play the gamecube version is that the game was designed for a control pad and Wii remote make the game easier. With the PS2 you do get to use a control pad but the graphics are not as good.

I'm sure in the end most people now will buy the Wii version but i would opt for the Gamecube.

You can use the gamecube controller / classic controller in the Wii version. Just load up the game and then turn off the wiimote and it will switch to the control pad. :)

They snuck that feature in there sneakily, thanks didn't know you could do that :)

I dont know if this is the same for anyone else but RE4 for the Wii looks particularly bad on my HDTV even with the component cable, and it still has black borders down the sides despite it being widescreen. I'd recommend playing it on decent CRT TV to get the most out of it (graphically).

It came in the post today for the wii and I love it!!!

I think the controlls add to the game. Feel a wee bit sad tho.. Can't help thinking of re5 in hi-def with no wii controll :(
