There were riots more recently. Terrorists were plotting to kill the original creator of the cartoons so European newspapers decided to reprint them and Muslims rioted again.

Thats very different because in China its the government that is censoring things according to its own agenda, whereas this is a private company who has just decided not to host a particular site anymore. Its not really censored because theres nothing stopping the guy just switching to a decent web host.

That's true, I jumped the gun a bit there and assumed the government shut it down.

Unless there's something covering this in the web hosting company's terms and conditions then I still think that this is pointless censorship. I agree with you, the guy should just get better hosting.

What you have to realize is that their is no freedom of speech on the internet, it is in fact a massive collection of small dictatorships where web hosts and site admins have complete control over what we can and can't say. Most allow people to say what they want, but they still retain the authority
