Why does it hurt when girl-friends sleep with boys?

Indeed, that's awesome. Especially if they are both hot.
 
From what I can gather,

You are hurt because you /are/ attracted on some level.

You don't feel the same toward your bloke mates, as well, you don't want to sleep with them, they aren't something to be attracted too so of course it wouldn't hurt if they got laid.

All the "it's just being protective" is silly, I have lots of friends that are girls and only feel "protective" if I know the guy is a bit of scum, but at the end of the day it is there choice - you can warn them that the guy is a sleeze, but its upto here if she hops in the sack with him.

Only ever felt a bit hurt if I liked them.

I get exactly the same feeling whenever any of my girl friends get with someone. I am pretty protective and do kinda look out for them. They all know what i'm like though and just go 'aww...bless' lol
 
I think it stems from the fact that women are, via penetration, seen as more vulnerable - the submissive partner (no matter how true or false). So it seems like they are being taken and used by a dominant male, hence a protective urge. On the flip side, a male friend on a one-night stand will be seen in a different light because he is the dominant force in the act, needing no protection.

Theres two possible answers to your question -

1. You do actually have feelings for this one

2. Pack mentallity.

Some guy you dont know and is completely random to you gets with a girl in your pack (friend circle). He has in effect infiltrated and stolen from your pack. This, to you, lowers your self esteem and makes you feel hurt because you, as a male of the pack, feel the need to protect the females.

Let me guess, in your head this guy is a cocky jerk who wont treat her right and probably sleeps with lots of girls and to him your friend is just a number?

If you were to get to know him, become friend with him and in effect allow him into your pack you would have no qualms with him sleeping with others in your group.

The reason you dont mind your males friends gettin some outside the pack is because they are showing their alphaness in inflitrating another group.

And so the circle goes on.
