Indeed, that's awesome. Especially if they are both hot.
I think it stems from the fact that women are, via penetration, seen as more vulnerable - the submissive partner (no matter how true or false). So it seems like they are being taken and used by a dominant male, hence a protective urge. On the flip side, a male friend on a one-night stand will be seen in a different light because he is the dominant force in the act, needing no protection.
I get exactly the same feeling whenever any of my girl friends get with someone. I am pretty protective and do kinda look out for them. They all know what i'm like though and just go 'aww...bless' lol
