I dont get this....

The Black List has been published by The Voice, Britain's leading newspaper for the black community, to highlight the contribution that people from an African Caribbean background are making to the game.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7305569.stm

Basically shows the most influential black people in football.

Now there is talk that there is a dearth of black coaches/managers in the game and when questioned black footballers say its because of the lack of opportunities.

So what ends up happening (and its prevalent in other industries) is positive discrimination of X minority to even up the balance. Of course discrimination is still discrimination. In other words in order to offset the ingrained discrimination in parts of the game - new discrimination is promoted but that just upsets those who arent discriminating against folk at all....

Or is it the case that the X minority has to be a MAJORITY among the minorities for it to start clamouring for attention?

Can we expect to see A jewish list, a hindu list of footballers? scottish footballers? welsh? *cough* islamic even? I mean hey if there is lack of opportunies for black footballers then imagine what its like for islamic footballers..

Where does it end?

give a **** don't care. Good for them and all but they are recognised without PC brigade charging to their 'rescue'

i'm bamboozled by the bit i quoted from the Voice...

Should all communities be more forward in supporting + highlighting people from their own background in the industry?

But arent they actually propogating racism by doing so?

I guess my earlier point applies then. With regard to the cultural make-up of those in the game.

The amount of people from X background/culture in the game (or rather in the UK as a whole?) has to reach a critical mass in order for there to be a need for something like a magazine/newspaper like The Voice that represents said X people in the game. (or just in general UK society)

My point about propagating racism relates to the fact that the powers that be, i'm pretty sure are considering measures to make it easier for black footballers to get into coaching/managing etc.

But i'm not judging... just wondering :D

we will see more black managers / coaches as more black players progress through their footballing careers and then go into management link Paul Ince.
